Agenda
- New Home Run Record
- Today's Weather and Updates
- Tomorrow's Picks
1. New Home Run Record
All season, we've discussed how the barrage of home runs has impacted fantasy baseball participants. The leaguewide single season home run record was broken yesterday courtesy of a couple sluggers. Now, who had Alex Pressly and Alex Gordon in the HR pool?
2. Today's Weather and Updates
We're all good on the weather front today. Tomorrow is looking sunny too.
3. Tomorrow's Picks - Thursday, September 21
Pitchers to Use
It's kind of a gross day for streaming pitchers. Tyler Anderson is easily the best option available. At his best, he induces soft, ground ball contact. Anderson is only recently returned from injury - this is only his second start since June. In two September appearances, he's tossed 10 scoreless innings, including a six-inning shutout of the Padres. He's visiting Petco Park for a rematch tomorrow.
Other Targets: R.A. Dickey, Clayton Richard
Pitchers to Exploit
I'll happily take Matt Andriese for his first time through the order. He's posted a 3.64 ERA when facing hitters for the first time. Unfortunately, batters quickly grow comfortable against his limited repertoire. He has a 5.26 ERA the second time through the order and a 6.00 ERA the rare times he faces a batter thrice. He's visiting the Orioles at hitter friendly Camden Yards.
Other Targets: Mark Leiter, Gabriel Ynoa, Adalberto Mejia, Jordan Zimmermann, Homer Bailey, Carson Fulmer
Homers on the Wire
Although I highlighted Andriese as a pitcher to target, I'm more keen to add Rays hitters. Kevin Kiermaier is the most enticing name. He's a five category contributor. Lucas Duda is available in 90 percent of leagues, making him the easiest to add. Logan Morrison and Corey Dickerson are over 50 percent owned, but they're increasingly available as owner churn away from cold bats.
Other Targets: Austin Hays, Seth Smith, Nick Williams, Aaron Altherr, Tyler Naquin, C.J. Cron, Steve Pearce, Jose Martinez, Stephen Piscotty, Josh Reddick
Steals on the Wire
Twins base thieves have a strong matchup against James McCann. He's terrible at gunning down runners. While Byron Buxton probably isn't available to you, a few guys like Jorge Polanco, Eddie Rosario, and Ehire Adrianza may take off running. Before you wander off looking for Adriaza, please note that he plays inconsistently.
Other Targets: Michael Taylor, Delino DeShields, Manuel Margot
Skill Positions
McCann will have the platoon advantage against Mejia. He mashed southpaws.
