T.J. McConnell (PG, PHI) - Week 7 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add In 14-Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 2% of leagues

ANALYSIS: To say that there is uncertainty in the youthful ranks of the Sixers back court would be a heavy understatement. Specifically, the Philadelphia organization is scrambling to figure out what in the world is up with Markelle Fultz and the mental blocks he seems to be deploying with reckless abandonment on offense. As the 76ers are trying to figure out their former #1 overall selection, in the meantime, Fultz's best buddy (for real) T.J. McConnell has been getting minutes as the backup to Ben Simmons. McConnell ranks ninth on the roster in total minutes played with 202, which is just one minute above Amir Johnson and a whole 124 minutes behind Mike Muscala who ranks just one spot above McConnell. Even with such scarce floor time, "McClutchell" still ranks fifth on the team in total steals (nine) and fifth on the team in total assists (34).

When he sees the floor, his well-rounded level of efficiency insures that he will produce in the time that he is presented with. His steal-percentage of 2.1% is third on the team behind just Jonah Bolden and Sixers newcomer Jimmy Butler, his assist-percentage of 24.4% is second on the team only Ben Simmons, and while his defensive rebounding-percentage of 10.5% is only ninth-best on the team, he still rebounds at a more efficient clip than other Philly guards like Fultz, Butler, J.J. Redick, and Landry Shamet. McConnell is back to shooting at an abysmal clip from three-point range (16.7%), and it is no secret that the Sixers would love to hand the keys back to Fultz if they can shake him of the basketball "yips". However, try to utilize T.J. McConnell for some solid passing, defense, and rebounding (for a point guard) in deeper leagues while we all kick back and trust the process.
