ANALYSIS: Ted Ginn is exactly what you think he is. He's a speedy deep route specialist who needs to connect on the long ball in order to provide value for fantasy owners (and the Carolina Panthers). Luckily, Cam Newton is pretty darn good at chucking the pigskin deep. Some weeks their gameplan may not call for it, but even if it's just a few shots deep off of play action, the opportunities will be there for deep leaguers.
Week 3 saw Ginn get six targets, finishing with four receptions for 93 yards. Ginn can also provide value to those who count return yards (he has 90 so far this year), and everyone benefits from return touchdowns. Do note that he operates as the punt returner only, as it seems Fozzy Whitaker is handling kickoff duties over him.
Ginn isn't someone to break the bank over, but he is essentially a "lite" version of DeSean Jackson and Travis Benjamin. A real boom or bust type who is on the field more than you might think (he played on 40 of 66 snaps in Week 3, so he doesn't just come in for 3rd and long plays). With bye weeks coming in hot, you could do a lot worse than a high upside dice roll on Ted Ginn.
