The Cut List - Players on the Chopping Block (Week 13)

As the season wears on, this list will feature more name brand players that you may have trouble letting go. Peyton Manning owners remember all too well how a big name can derail an entire season if you refuse to accept that he simply no longer has value. The names on this list no longer have fantasy value.

Each week from now until the end of the season, I’ll be offering my thoughts on players who don’t deserve to keep a roster spot on your fantasy football teams. Below are my Week 13 cuts and drops for fantasy football.

Let's get to it.

Players to Consider Dropping or Replacing

Damien Williams (RB, MIA)

Unfortunately, Damien Williams does not find himself on this list as a result of his on field performance. He is here because his shoulder popped out of its socket last week. Williams is not good enough and his job is not secure enough to be worth holding for the 2-3 weeks he is expected to miss, especially not at this point in the season. The Dolphins' offense isn't worth it and Williams will likely return to a backup role behind Kenyan Drake.

Alfred Morris and Rod Smith (RBs, DAL)

Move along people, nothing to see here. The Cowboys offense is a dumpster fire right now and if anyone is going to break through, it is not going to be either of Alfred Morris or Rod Smith. They are in an undesirable timeshare on a bottom five offense. We finally have our answer to who the correct pickup was in the event of an Ezkeiel Elliott suspension - no one.

Jay Ajayi (RB, PHI)

I just don't understand what people expected to happen here. Every since the trade to Philadelphia, I had cautioned everyone that it was not going to help Jay Ajayi's fantasy value. The Eagles have run a three man committee all season and it has been very effective while the Eagles are winning games in dominant fashion. What exactly would have been the impetus for Doug Pederson to change anything? Ajayi touched the ball six times last week because that is his role in the offense - one third of the backfield. Ajayi is not a bad player, but he's nothing special. He's just another cog in the Eagles running machine. He will see 6-8 touches a week. If you think that has fantasy value, then by all means, hang onto him. I just don't see how any RB could produce on that little volume.

Jordy Nelson (WR, GB)

For a full explanation, check out the previous week's Cut List. Jordy Nelson did nothing to change anyone's mind last week, posting a season low 11 yards in a game where Brett Hundley actually played very well and the Packers offense moved the ball. Without Aaron Rodgers, at least in this version of the Packers offense, Nelson is nothing.

Doug Martin (RB, TB)

It's week 13 folks. Time to trim the fat. Doug Martin has not been good at football since October 15. His name value kept him off this list for a while, but eventually, poor play is going to get you cut. It is long past time to let the Dougernaut go. Martin had seven carries for 33 yards and one concussion last week. Whether he misses time or not, we are going to be seeing a lot more Peyton Barber. Martin's value is gone.

James White (RB, NE)

Trying to guess what's going to happen with Patriot running backs is hard enough as it is. Doing it with three is impossible. Fortunately, our weekly guessing game has gotten a little easier. The New England backfield is now a two man show featuring Rex Burkhead and Dion Lewis. James White has fallen out of favor because of the reality of his talents. White is good at one thing - catching the football. The problem is he is not an in line runner and Burkhead is a better receiver than White while Lewis is also a capable pass catcher and the best on the team in the open field. There just isn't a role for White anymore.
