NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 1/25/22
We will follow up on yesterday’s unusual heavy slate with another one. Luckily, today we will have a few value spots to exploit, granting us some flexibility in roster construction. I will do my best to guide you through this exciting slate starting at 7 p.m. EST with many teams in prime matchups.
We will have three teams on back-to-backs: Dallas, Philadelphia and Vegas. The Coyotes enter with the league's second-worst goals against (3.66) when they travel to Pittsburgh, while the Panthers will look to make amends when they travel to Winnipeg with their league’s second-best goals for (3.94).
DISCLOSURE: The slate may not be the same at puck drop as it is during the writeup due to COVID-19. Make sure to monitor the news feed and play at your own risk.
NHL DFS Goalies
Frederik Andersen- DK $8.2K || FD $7.9K
Opponent - Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights still possess a high-powered offense, but it has taken a tumble over the past month or so with the offense drying up – 0.5 goals less over the month of January –. Furthermore, they will also be playing on the second half of a back-to-back where they barely beat Washington 1-0. This sets up the perfect chance for Andersen to hit value thanks to the plethora of shots Vegas still takes.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Jarry(DK $8.5K || FD $8.6K), Sorokin(DK $8.4K || FD $8.4K), Saros(DK $8.3K || FD $8.1K), Bobrovsky(DK $8.1K || FD $8.2K)
NHL DFS Centers
Ryan McLeod-DK $2.5K || FD $3K
Opponent - Vancouver Canucks
McLeod could not find himself in any better of a position to succeed. The former Mississauga Steelheads Assistant Captain was not hyped up for the sake of it prior to his draft year. The center brings a versatile skillset and it might be exactly what is needed to get his new linemate, Connor McDavid, producing again. For minimum salary, all McLeod needs is a few shots and or a lucky bounce to go his way. In his first game with McDavid, McLeod produced 2.0 shots and 2.0 blocked shots.
Sidney Crosby- DK $8K || FD $8K
Opponent - Arizona Coyotes
The fact that Crosby is still $1K less than the top center on the slate is criminal and we are here to take advantage in a super-plus matchup. The top-line pivot is still goal-hunting for history – four more goals and he hits the 500 plateau –. Nevertheless, the Penguins Captain continues to dazzle with a 5-2-7 line and 19.0 shots over his last five appearances. Going against one of the all-time worst defenses in the league who is actively shopping their best player, this sets up for yet another show in the Burgh.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): McDavid(DK $8.6K || FD $10.3K), Malkin(DK $6.6K || FD $6.7K), Thompson(DK $5.9K || FD $5.8K), Barzal(DK $5.6K || FD $6.1K), Trochek(DK $4.7K || FD $5.3K), Stuetzle(DK $4.2K || FD $5.2K)
NHL DFS Wings
Andrei Svechnikov- DK $4.6K || FD $6.9K
Opponent - Vegas Golden Knights
The Michigan Man himself is somehow below the $5K mark in salary, yet he possesses a 2-6-8 line with 15.0 shots over his last five appearances. Yes, Vegas did just hold Ovechkin pointless last night, but for little salary, we get the same type of shot production against a fatigued Vegas squad. He is also expected to shoot on Logan Thompson tomorrow night who has been less than stellar in net this season – 3.21 goals against –.
Alex Tuch- DK $5.5K || FD $5.9K
Opponent - Ottawa Senators
Tuch has done everything and more since his arrival in Buffalo. The ex-Vegas winger now has a 2-4-6 line with 11.0 shots over his last five appearances. He is currently on a point-per-game pace as well with 10 points in nine appearances – 3.0 goals and 7.0 assists –. Ottawa happens to own one of the worst defenses in the league and they should also be giving up more goals than what they have. This is a prime spot for the trigger-happy winger.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Huberdeau(DK $8.1K || FD $9.1K), Rust(DK $6.4K || FD $7.8K), Wheeler(DK $6.1K || FD $6K), Forsberg(DK $6K || FD $8.2K) Rodriguez(DK $5.9K || FD $6.3K), Lee(DK $4.3K || FD $5K), Niederreiter(DK $3.6K || FD $4.8K)
NHL DFS Defensemen
Mark Giordano- DK $5.6K || FD $5.2K
Opponent - Nashville Predators
Giordano will continue to be highlighted until DraftKings realizes his production and gives him the appropriate salary. The Kraken Captain may only have a 0-4-4 line over his past five appearances, but he also has taken 12.0 shots and blocked 16.0 shots. He hits value without needing points and he currently has some of the best value on the slate. Beating out the likes of Roman Josi, Kris Letang, Aaron Ekblad and more. Against a fast-paced Predators squad, he will have every chance to make his mark.
Evan Bouchard- DK $4.5K || FD $5.6K
Opponent - Vancouver Canucks
Welcome to the Bouchard show. Many have been calling his name for a while now to man the power-play with myself included. Edmonton’s wells have run dry and Bouchard is one step closer to striking oil once more. In his one game quarterbacking the power-play he landed two goals on the man advantage. He also had three shots as well. For under $5K, this is the perfect spot to alleviate some of the salary burdens for tonight’s slate.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Chabot(DK $6.4K || FD $6.1K), Nurse(DK $6K || FD $6.4K), DeAngelo(DK $5.4K || FD $6.4K), Hughes(DK $5.1K || FD $6K), Severson(DK $4.9K || FD $5K), Salo(DK $2.6K || FD $3.6K)
