BALLER MOVE: Add in Two-Catcher Leagues
OWNED IN: 13% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Poor Tom Murphy...All he wants to do is mash home runs and no one will let him. Well not exactly, as Seattle has let him for mash for 194 plate appearances this year as the backup to Omar Narvaez, to which Murphy has responded by hitting 16 home runs in his 54 games, with 35 RBI, and 23 runs scored. But Narvaez is the starter and that probably won't be changing anytime soon, making Murphy only the occasional streaming candidate in one-catcher leagues. But in two-catcher formats, Murphy is a fantastic add this week, as he's coming off of the best stretch of his career, hitting six home runs in his past four games played.
Murphy will have a great chance to get in the lineup for multiple games in Week 22, as Seattle faces the Yankees for three games at home, before going on the road to face the Rangers in a four-game set in the heat of the Arlington bandbox. Murphy holds some dramatic splits, with a .348 AVG and 201 wRC+ against left-handers but only a .239 AVG and 88 wRC+ against righties. Which is why Murphy should get some starts this week, as the Mariners line up to face left-handers in five of their seven games. Mash away, young Murph...Mash away.
