After an exciting UFC 249 that saw notable victories from Ryan Spann, Aleksei Oleinik, Greg Hardy, Francis Ngannou, and Justin Gaethje, we also witnessed the retirement of the legendary Henry Cejudo, who ended his career as the Bantamweight Champion after beating Dominick Cruz by TKO in the second round. The UFC will next feature two cards in one week, with the latest occurring on Wednesday with the return of UFC Fight Night, an event headlined by a Light Heavyweight bout between Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy MMA lineup picks for FanDuel for UFC Fight Night on 5/13/20. You can check out our DraftKings MMA DFS picks as well. UFC Fight Night Bantamweight - MMA DFS Lineup Picks
Sijara Eubanks, $20 - vs. Sarah Moras
Eubanks will be entering the octagon, having lost her last two fights, with her most recent defeat coming at the hands of Brazillian Bethe Correia, who was able to twerk her way to victory via a unanimous decision. Nonetheless, this fight wasn't as one-sided as the judge's outcome suggested, as Eubanks displayed some solid work on her feet while also nearly submitting the Pitbull in the first round before time expired using a guillotine choke.
Moras, on the other hand, is fresh off a victory over Liana Jojua at UFC 242, defeating the 25-year-old with a barrage of elbows in the third round. Cheesecake, who is only a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu purple belt, could easily find herself getting taken down early by an aggressive Eubanks, resulting in an early first-round submission to end the fight.
UFC Fight Night Heavyweight - MMA DFS Lineup Picks
Anthony Smith, $19 - vs. Glover Teixeira
After we thought his career was coming to an end after he dropped four fights since the loss to Jon Jones in 2014, Teixeira is now back on the winning path. The 40-year-old won all three of his bouts in 2019, dispatching Karl Roberson with an arm-triangle choke, Ion Cutelaba with a rear-naked choke, and Russian Vale Tudo practioner Nikita Krylov via a split-decision.
Smith, however, lasted five rounds against Jones, losing a Light Heavyweight Championship bout by unanimous decision. He was able to rebound and doing so convincingly by choking out Alexander Gustafsson nearly a year ago. While Teixeira has been impressive, Smith, who is one of the most exciting fighters today, should find a way to win, while also looking to climb the rankings for another championship opportunity.
UFC Fight Night Lightweight - MMA DFS Lineup Picks
Drew Dober, $17 - vs. Alexander Hernandez
We have a battle of two bangers here as Dober finished his last two fights within the first round. Hernandez, who has an impressive 11-2 MMA record, can throw hands as well, albeit not as effectively. If this one heads to the mat, Hernandez, who is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brown belt, has the advantage.
However, while not as proficient of a grappler, Dober and his 60 percent takedown defense should keep this battle verticle, making it probable that one of these guys--likely Hernandez--will get knocked out fast.
UFC Fight Night Middleweight - MMA DFS Lineup Picks
Marvin Vettori, $17 - vs. Karl Roberson
Vettori has won nearly 60 percent of his fights via submission and is also averaging just over four significant strikes per minute. He will be heading into Jacksonville riding a two-fight win streak, with his most recent victories coming against Cezar Ferreira and Andrew Sanchez by way of the judge's decision.
Roberson has also won his last two fights, recording a split decision win over Wellington Turman and, most recently, choking out Roman Kopylov back in November. Both men have demonstrated that they are willing to go the distance, which will leave plenty of room for significant strike and submission attempts throughout three rounds, with the edge going to the 26-year-old Italian to walk away with his third consecutive victory.
UFC Fight Night Heavyweight - MMA DFS Lineup Picks
Philipe Lins, $16 - vs. Andrei Arlovski
In another contest featuring two capable strikers, Arlovski has made a career out of beating the crap out of people; scoring wins over fighters such as Tim Sylvia, "Big Country" Roy Nelson, Wesley "Cabbage" Correira, and "The Janitor" Vladimir Matyushenko over the years. He is a former Heavyweight Champion who has nothing left to prove in the sport. With that said, his best days are obviously behind him as the 41-year-old has lost nine times since 2016, a trend that started against Stipe Miocic back at UFC 195.
With Arlvoski still looking to fight, he will have another tough battle against Philipe Lins, a Brazilian who has won his last four professional fights and will be making his debut with the company. "Monstro" is stable in the submission game, holding a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and despite giving up the size advantage to the legend, he will more than likely have his way with him.
