Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Pickups - Week 5

Let's talk about wide receivers!

This week's waiver wire list has some strong names on it. This has been a really deep year for wide receivers, and Week 4 was no exception when it came to lightly-owned players putting up strong numbers. There was A.J. Brown getting two touchdowns. There was another strong Mohamed Sanu game. Cole Beasley continued to be a PPR machine.

Not all options are the same. Some players may be better in PPR or deeper leagues, so it’s not a one-size-fits-all comparison. Use your best judgment when deciding which of these players is the right fit for your roster. Check here for a complete list of our Waiver Wire Adds for Week 5 for help at all the skill positions. All players on this list here are around 30% owned or below.

WR Waiver Wire - Free Agents To Consider Adding

Mohamed Sanu, Atlanta Falcons - 27% owned

Is Sanu actually Atlanta's WR2 now instead of Calvin Ridley?

Probably not, but with Ridley limited by a hip injury, Sanu put up a very strong stat line for the second week in a row. Sanu had nine catches on 12 targets, finishing with 91 yards. Last week he had six catches for 75 yards. He's becoming an option in 12-team leagues at this point, and his ability to provide Matt Ryan with a consistent option who can bring in a good percentage of his targets and be a value play in PPR leagues.

Geronimo Allison, Green Bay Packers - 24% owned

While Davante Adams status for Week 5 still up in the air, there may be a rush to grab Geronimo Allison this week. If Adams misses time with a foot injury, having Allison as an option isn't a bad idea. He had three catches for 52 yards and a touchdown in Week 4, his second touchdown of the season. If Adams plays, you want to avoid Allison, but if you have a roster spot and want to grab an Aaron Rodgers pass-catcher who might have an expanded role, Allison's the guy for you.

Cole Beasley, Buffalo Bills - 12% owned

How many times this year am I going to write about Cole Beasley?

The Bills used Josh Allen and Matt Barkley at quarterback because of an Allen concussion, but the one consistent thing on Sunday was that Cole Beasley was there to be his usual PPR self. Beasley was targeted 12 times -- his second game in a row with double figure targets -- and caught seven of those passes for 75 yards. Beasley is a great safety net for whoever is playing quarterback in Buffalo and at some point y'all are going to have to pick him up.

Dontrelle Inman, Los Angeles Chargers - 9% owned

With Mike Williams and Travis Benjamin out, Inman saw an expanded role, catching five passes for 76 yards before exiting with a quad injury.

Like with the Allison blurb above, Inman's value is tied up in other player's being out, and Inman's own injury complicates things. But if he's healthy and Williams and Benjamin miss time again, Inman showed on Sunday that he can be perform when he's asked to be the team's WR2. Monitor Monday and Tuesday's news for updates, but if it looks like Inman is in line for a big workload again and you need a receiver, here's a guy.

A.J. Brown, Tennessee Titans - 9% owned

Brown came up big on Sunday, catching all three of his targets for 94 yards and a pair of touchdown. The volume is definitely concerning, but Brown should continue to step into a larger role for the Titans and has the big play potential on this team. It's impossible to ignore a performance like this, and while there's still a lot of downside to Brown since he's in a Titans offense that isn't great through the air, we have to imagine that Marcus Mariota looks his way more after this one.

Devante Parker, Miami Dolphins - 8% owned

Josh Rosen is a slight upgrade over Ryan Fitzpatrick, which is helping Devante Parker put up some successful numbers. Parker caught all four of his targets on Sunday, finishing with 70 yards and a score. No, he's not becoming the guy we've been waiting on him to become, but he's a solid second receiver for the Dolphins behind Preston Williams. I've got some concern that Albert Wilson's return will hurt Parker, but I'm also a major Wilson fan so...I've got some bias. Still, Parker's upside means he should be owned in a lot more leagues than he currently is.

Zach Pascal, Indianapolis Colts - 1% owned

Continuing this "well, depends on if there are injuries" trend, if T.Y. Hilton misses more time, Pascal should benefit. Pascal kind of reminds me of what I thought Devin Funchess would be in Indianapolis. He had four catches for 72 yards on seven targets on Sunday and can be a good deep option for Jacoby Brissett.

Chester Rogers, Indianapolis Colts - 0% owned

Like picking up Pascal, but less exciting. Rogers was targeted six times on Sunday, catching three passes for 48 yards and a score. Not much standalone value, but a good deep league option if Hilton misses more games. Yeah, we're scraping the barrel here, but some of you are in very deep leagues.
