Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Pickups - Week 8

We're heading into Week 8 of the NFL season. By now, some of y'all are getting a good sense of where you're at fantasy-wise, if you're heading to the postseason or playing for fun or, in a dynasty league, building for the future.

This look at wide receivers is for all of you. As we near the NFL mid-point, who's out there who can help you win this year? Who is a promising add for the future? Let's talk about those guys.

Not all options are the same. Some players may be better in PPR or deeper leagues, so it’s not a one-size-fits-all comparison. Use your best judgment when deciding which of these players is the right fit for your roster. Check here for a complete list of our Waiver Wire Adds for Week 8 for help at all the skill positions. All players on this list here are around 30% owned or below.

WR Waiver Wire - Free Agents To Consider Adding

Devante Parker, Miami Dolphins - 13% owned

He's a key target on the NFL's worst team, which means he's going to get plenty of targets and opportunities to find the end zone. On Sunday, he caught five of his 10 targets for 55 yards and a touchdown. He has a touchdown in three straight games now, so if you're looking for touchdown upside, you should probably be rostering Parker at this point.

Preston Williams, Miami Dolphins - 12% owned

Y'all's avoidance of all Dolphins players is getting old, tbh. Williams should be rostered in 12-team leagues because the number-one receiver on teams that pass the ball a lot -- even if they aren't good at it -- should be rostered in 12-team leagues. Williams had six catches for 82 yards on Sunday. He's been targeted at least five times in every game and while his Week 6 performance wasn't good, he should still be rostered.

Kenny Stills, Houston Texans - 12% owned

Will Fuller left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury. If he's held out of next week's game, Kenny Stills -- who caught four passes for 105 yards on Sunday -- should step into a larger role. Houston's got a great quarterback in Deshaun Watson and should be a solid deep threat for the Texans if Fuller misses time. Don't put in a claim until we know more, but if Fuller's out, Stills is worth a shot.

Danny Amendola, Detroit Lions - 5% owned

I've already picked up and dropped Danny Amendola once this season, but I'm willing to do it again at this point. 11 targets. Eight catches. 105 yards. This is what Amendola can occasionally do as a slot option on a pass-heavy team, and it Kerryon Johnson misses time -- he exited Sunday's game and didn't return -- then the Lions will become a pass-heavy team again. We'll know more about Johnson by waiver day, so if he's set to miss games, grab Amendola, who'll be hugely useful in the short passing game in that scenario.

Alex Erickson, Cincinnati Bengals - 2% owned

2019 is the year of some guy taking over as the Bengals number-two receiver and then losing that role to someone else. John Ross. Auden Tate. And now, Alex Erickson.

Erickson was targeted 14 times on Sunday, catching eight of those for 137 yards. That level of usage is wild, an Erickson outplayed teammate Tyler Boyd, who was also targeted 14 times.

The Bengals are bad. Bad teams throw. Receivers on bad teams can be extremely valuable. All the mouths in Cincy make it hard to know if Erickson is the guy to own here, especially with A.J. Green set to return at some point, but if you need receiver help then he's worth the add.

Zach Pascal, Indianapolis Colts - 1% owned

Last year, I picked Zach Pascal up in a dynasty league, and then not much later I dropped Pascal in that dynasty league because his long-term outlook didn't look that great.

I think that conclusion is still true. Long term, Pascal's role with the Colts probably isn't huge. But short term in deeper leagues? Well, he was targeted seven times, catching six passes for 106 yards and a pair of touchdowns. It was the second time in three games that Pascal has been targeted seven times. Pascal isn't a league winner, but he's giving you solid production for now, which is worth an add in 14-team leagues.

Olabisi Johnson, Minnesota Vikings - 0% owned

Will Adam Thielen end up missing time with a hamstring injury? I don't know, but if he does then Johnson is the next man up. He had four catches for 40 yards and a touchdown on Sunday and was targeted eight times. That's a deep league streamer option, especially for Thielen owners, right?

UPDATE: Adam Thielen has officially been ruled out for Week 8.
