Three games on the WNBA slate today. Things get started early with Mercury/Dream, followed by the Liberty visiting the Storm and the Sparks visiting the Lynx in the evening games. (Note: DraftKings has all three games on its slate, while FanDuel is going a one gamer for the early game and a two-game main slate in the evening.)
I'll be providing daily fantasy lineup picks for the WNBA this season here at RotoBaller. In addition, I'll be sprinkling in some basic betting picks. Not going to get complicated since there's limited space in this piece, but I'll throw you a bet or two each day that I like and, because I think this is important, that I'll be making myself.
In this article, I'll be providing you with some daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 5/29/22. These lineups picks will range from elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. The slate locks on 5/29/2022 at 12:00 p.m. ET. Want to talk more about the WNBA? WNBA DFS Lineup Picks: Forwards
Sylvia Fowles (Minnesota Lynx) - vs LA - DK: $11,000, FD: $8,300
Fowles is averaging 17.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 63.8% from the floor. She had 20 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal the last time she faced the Sparks, going 8-for-11 from the floor. Overall, LA allows the third-most points and fourth-most rebounds per game. Should be a strong game from the veteran center on Sunday.
Nneka Ogwumike (Los Angeles Sparks) - @ MIN - DK: $10,600, FD: $8,800
You'd think you wouldn't want to play a big against Sylvia Fowles, but Ogwumike played really well when these teams met earlier this season, going 9-for-16 from the floor with 22 points, eight rebounds, three assists and one steal. The Sparks have struggled much of this season, but Ogwumike has been a bright spot. She's shot over 60% from the floor in three of her last four games and is coming off her best showing of the year, with 30 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals against the Fever.
Gabby Williams (Seattle Storm) - vs NY - DK: $7,900, FD: $4,400
COVID has hit the Storm hard, which is why Williams played 36 minutes on Friday against the Liberty. With the same players still out, I see no reason—other than foul trouble—that Williams won't be on the floor for 35-plus minutes again. On Friday, her shot wasn't there as she went 2-for-10 from the floor, but she still had a good fantasy day because she had nine rebounds, three blocks and six steals. She won't have six steals again, but two or three of them against the turnover-prone Liberty is realistic, with Williams also likely to score more than four points.
WNBA DFS Lineup Picks: Guards
Skylar Diggins-Smith (Phoenix Mercury) - @ ATL - DK: $10,000, FD: $9,500 (one-game slate on FD)
SDS has been the bright spot on this Mercury team. The on/off differences are stark, as Phoenix plays mostly like an average team with Diggins-Smith on the floor and like a bottom-dweller with her off the floor. She's averaging 19.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game this season. Atlanta is holding opponents under 40% shooting, but Diggins-Smith has done damage against good teams like Vegas and Seattle this year, so I'm not worried about the Dream defense.
Briann January (Seattle Storm) -vs NY - DK: $5,100, FD: $4,100
Getting back to the Seattle COVID issues I mentioned earlier, January saw a jump to 32 minutes on Friday with Sue Bird and Stephanie Talbot out, going 4-for-7 from the floor and 3-for-4 from deep with 11 points, two assists and one steal. Seattle will likely need to rely on January to be an offensive weapon in this one, something that usually would be a bad thing, but probably will be fine against New York.
Crystal Dangerfield (Seattle Storm) - @ SEA - DK: $5,000, FD: $3,900
I recommended Dangerfield on Friday and while the numbers weren't great, the process was fine, as she saw a rise in minutes as expected with the Liberty shorthanded. Dangerfield had six rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes; the problem for DFS players was that she was just 1-for-7 from the floor. She can't shoot 14.3% again, right?
WNBA Betting Picks for 5/28/2022
Looking to make some WNBA bets? Let's look at some options for you.
Yesterday's Results: N/A
Liberty/Storm U 154
Both of these teams are missing a lot of key pieces, which is why Friday's game between them was so disjointed. That game had 150 points...but 16 of those came in overtime. Barring another overtime game, I just don't think either of these teams in position to score much in this game considering how many players are out. New York in particular only scored 71 points on Friday because of an uncharacteristic third quarter where they socred 27.
Minnesota Lynx Spread (-2)
Yes, the Lynx are 2-6 while the Sparks are 3-6. But the Lynx have also played a tough schedule so far, with losses to the Storm, Mystics, Sky and Aces. As for the Sparks, the team has lost six of seven, with the only win coming against Phoenix. That includes an 87-84 loss to the Lynx earlier this season.
