3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals left-hander Steven Matz pitched well in a 1-0 win over the Kansas City Royals on Monday. Matz tossed six shutout innings while striking out four on the way to improving his record to 3-1 on the season. The 30-year-old has been decent for the Cardinals in his first season in St. Louis, posting a 4.56 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts over 23 2/3 innings of work. Matz has actually pitched better than his ERA indicates if you factor out his rough 2022 season debut in which he coughed up seven runs.
