Happy Monday, RotoBallers! This is John Brubaker filling in for Euan Leith dropping some of my favorite plays for tonight's slate. Mondays are typically one of my favorite days to play MLB DFS, as we don't have a super overwhelming slate, but a decent-sized night slate to get the week rolling. It's certainly an "ace slate" tonight, with the likes of Corbin Burnes, Gerrit Cole, Shane McClanahan, and others taking the mound for their teams tonight.
FanDuel and DraftKings are giving us an eight-game main slate tonight. There will be plenty of late-swap opportunity if you were to go that route. It's certainly an "ace slate" tonight, with the likes of Corbin Burnes, Gerrit Cole, Shane McClanahan, and others taking the mound for their teams tonight. I feel like I have a solid feel for tonight's slate, so let's get right to it.
This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel at 7:05 pm on 6/20/2022. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options, and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Corbin Burnes, MIL vs STL ($10,400 DK, $10,800 FD)
I'll start tonight's slate off with Corbin Burnes. While Burnes hasn't been the lights-out starter he was last year, seeing some regression, particularly in the control department, he's still been awesome. While the top-priced arm on the slate, Shane McClanahan, has to run into the red-hot Yankees' offense, Corbin Burnes gets a Cardinals lineup that ranks middle-of-the-pack in terms of both OPS and wRC+. Outside of Paul Goldschmidt, who has been crushing everyone this year, no one in the Cardinals lineup hits Burnes particularly well. I project Burnes to have a 2.74 xFIP, 28.9% strikeout rate while allowing just 28.08% hard contact. He's my top arm on the slate.
Josh Winckowski, BOS vs DET ($9,500 DK, $6,500 FD)
In cash tonight, I'll likely go with two studs on DraftKings and/or pay up for my one starter on FanDuel, but in GPP, I have no problem taking a chance with Josh Winckowski. After the Red Sox righty got touched up by the Orioles in his first start, he did a great job shutting down the Athletics on Wednesday, tossing five scoreless innings. He draws another favorable matchup tonight against the Tigers, who rank dead last in both OPS and wRC+ against right-handed pitching. He'll likely gather some ownership, as he's for sure the best value arm on the slate.
Also consider: Max Fried, Logan Webb

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Rafael Devers - 3B, BOS vs. Alex Faedo ($5,300 DK, $4,400 FD)
As far as hitters go, I'll be starting with the Red Sox offense, particularly Rafael Devers. Devers has been tearing it up over the last two weeks and should continue to do so against Alex Faedo. He has a .740 wOBA + ISO and is making 39.25% hard contact against righties on the season. I project him to increase that number tonight, with a 40.78% projected hard contact rate. He's a quality pay-up option and would be a key piece in my Red Sox stacks.
Jared Walsh - 1B, LAA vs. Kris Bubic ($4,200 DK, $3,100 FD)
This one may raise some eyebrows given that Walsh is technically in a "platoon disadvantage" tonight, but hear me out. Despite Walsh having just a .414 wOBA + ISO against southpaws on the year, he's making hard contact at a 42.31% rate. His primary issue is that he's been hitting the ball into the ground against lefties at a high rate (50.33%), and Bubic allows just a 38.31% ground ball rate to left-handed hitters, as well as a 53.34% hard contact rate. So long as Walsh plays, I can't see him gathering a bunch of ownership due to the platoon situation, making him a great piece in an Angels stack.
Evan Longoria - 3B, SF vs. Max Fried ($3,100 DK, $2,400 FD)
One of my favorite players of all time has turned into one of my favorite plays of all time: Evan Longoria against lefties. Longoria has a .583 wOBA + ISO and 46.95% hard contact rate against lefties on the year. The issue and what doesn't make this a "home run play" is because Max Fried takes the ball for Atlanta. While Fried keeps the ball on the ground (49.86%), Longoria has been putting the ball in the air against southpaws. I project Longoria to have just a 33.61% ground ball rate partnered with a 44.79% hard contact rate.
DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Mike Trout - OF, LAA vs. Kris Bubic ($6,000 DK, $4,200 FD)
I'm so shocked that the best player in the world has turned it around following an 0-26 and is now scorching hot. Trout's hit five homers in as many games, and has logged 38 RBIs in his last 39 ABs. He's crushed left-handed pitching this season, with a .765 wOBA + ISO and 39.37% hard contact rate. He now gets to face one of the worst southpaws in the bigs, making this an easy call. My model projects Trout to a 40.81% hard contact rate and 24.32% walk rate. I expect him to stay hot today against Bubic.
J.D. Martinez- OF, BOS vs. Alex Faedo ($4,700 DK, $3,100 FD)
Seemingly every season is a season where J.D. Martinez is one of the best hitters in baseball but for some reason isn't recognized or talked about like some of the other top stars in the game. Nevertheless, Martinez is "quietly" hitting .336 with eight homers on the year, and has a .612 wOBA + ISO and 39.53% hard contact rate against right-handed pitching. I project that hard contact rate to jump up nearly 10% at 49.06% tonight, making him a solid outfield choice in the mid-tier.
Christopher Morel - OF, CHC vs. JT Brubaker ($3,700 DK, $3,500 FD)
A personal favorite play of mine over the last few weeks, Morel is a quality option as he's been hitting extremely well with five homers on the year while hitting .264. He's got a .581 wOBA + ISO and is hitting the ball hard at a 31.64% rate, and should match up well against Pirates righty JT Brubaker. He hasn't faced Brubaker yet, but I can see him and the whole Cubs lineup jumping on him early and getting to the Pittsburgh bullpen who will likely be without David Bednar following his multi-inning save yesterday.
DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks
Los Angeles Angels vs. Kris Bubic
While the Angels don't necessarily hit left-handed pitching that well as a team, I don't think they'll have that same issue this evening. Bubic comes into this one with an 8.36 ERA and 4.91 xFIP, as well as allowing 37% hard contact. Despite the Angels losing Anthony Rendon, I'll vouch for them to handle business tonight. Their 47.73 stack rating is by far the highest on the slate.
Favorite Plays: Taylor Ward, Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, Jared Walsh, Kurt Suzuki
Boston Red Sox vs. Alex Faedo
While Boston sits middle of the pack offensively against right-handed pitching, I can see them playing up today against the Tigers' righty Alex Faedo. Faedo comes into this one with a 4.28 ERA and 4.46 xFIP, as well as allowing 36% hard contact. The Sox bats have been hot and my model expects that to continue today. Their 40.78 stack rating ranks fifth on the slate, but given the impending Faedo regression coupled with Boston's hot bats, I'll likely be over the field on them.
Favorite Plays: Rafael Devers, J.D. Martinez, Jarren Duran, Xander Bogaerts
Also Consider: Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres
