3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals left-hander Steven Matz (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday. The expectation is that he will pitch two innings in Tuesday's rehab outing. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol stated that once Matz is ready to return to the Cardinals, he'll have a decision to make in regards to the team's starting rotation. He'll either bring Matz back as a starter or keep Andre Pallante in the rotation. Matz has been out for about a month due to a left shoulder impingement. He was struggling immensely before the injury, pitching to a 6.03 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP over nine starts. Pallante, meanwhile, has posted a 2.57 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP over four starts since joining the rotation in early June.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
