Gary Trent Jr. Could Come Off The Bench Next Year
2 years agoToronto Raptors guard Gary Trent Jr. had a career-best season in 2021-22. He played nearly 35 minutes per game and averaged 18.3 points, 3.0 three-pointers and 1.7 steals per contest. He shot 41.4% from the field, 38.3% from three-point range and 85.3% from the line while committing just 1.0 turnovers per game. According to Raptors beat writer Eric Koreen, Trent could come off the bench in 2022-23. Koreen projects for the team to go with a starting lineup of Fred VanVleet, Scottie Barnes, OG Anunoby, Pascal Siakam and Precious Achiuwa. If Trent indeed winds up coming off the bench, he'd likely see his minutes drop to something closer to 30 minutes per game. His fantasy value would take a bit of a hit but he should remain a solid source of three-pointers and steals regardless.
