What is the Fantasy Football Impact of the Laviska Shenault Trade?

On Monday, the Jacksonville Jaguars traded wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. to the Carolina Panthers.

Shenault is entering his third season in the NFL and now will have to learn a new offense on the fly if he wants to make an impact in his new digs.

Let's examine how this trade impacts Shenault, as well as the other players in Carolina and Jacksonville.

How Does The Laviska Shenault Trade Impact Carolina?

Shenault now joins a pretty messy receiving group in Carolina.

The Panthers have D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson, who have pretty solidified roles atop this passing attack. Moore is the player who will see passes funneled his way. Anderson is the deep threat.

That leaves Shenault fighting with Terrace Marshall Jr. for the third receiver role. Marshall and Shenault have a lot in common, as both are theoretically fast receivers who can get involved in gadget plays and make plays in the open field.

Carolina also has Rashard Higgins, but this trade negates any fantasy value he might have had.

How Does The Laviska Shenault Trade Impact Jacksonville?

It sounds like Shenault was on the way out in Jacksonville.

Before the trade, Shenault was looking like the No. 4 receiver for the Jags. The only real impact on this trade when it comes to the rotation for Jacksonville is that Zay Jones now appears locked in as the No. 3 receiver.

Jones didn't have a ton of value before this deal and he doesn't have too much more now, but there's slightly more reason to target him as a late pick in deep leagues.

What Is Laviska Shenault's Fantasy Football Value?

So, what do we think of Shenault himself from a fantasy perspective?

Let's be real here: there wasn't really too much of a path to fantasy value for Shenault in Jacksonville, and there's still not really too much of a path to fantasy value for Shenault in Carolina.

He does have a better chance at earning snaps, as beating out Terrace Marshall Jr. shouldn't be as tough, in theory, as beating out Jones. But Marshall has more experience in this offense and thus has a head start. Will Shenault be able to catch up?

I'm a little more likely to draft Shenault as a late-round flyer in deep leagues now, but not that much more likely than before.
