D'Andre Swift Injury Update
Swift (ankle) did not practice for two consecutive days to open the week, but he gave fantasy managers some optimism by logging a limited session on Friday. It's always a good sign when a star player can close out the week by practicing in some capacity. Indeed, the Lions listed Swift as questionable, leaving the door open for him to play in Week 2. As of now, it looks like he'll suit up, putting him in the low-end RB1 category against Washington.
Najee Harris Injury Update
There was some concern about the availability of Harris (foot) at the start of the week, but he proceeded to log two consecutive full practice sessions and does not carry an injury designation into Week 2 versus New England. Translation: Harris is feeling fine and will play, presumably on a full workload. New England's defense is mediocre against running backs, and considering Harris can hurt them on the ground and through the air, he ranks as an RB1 in fantasy football this week.
Alvin Kamara Injury Update
Kamara (ribs) was limited in practice this past Wednesday. Then, he was absent from practice on both Thursday and Friday. Not only was it concerning to see his availability decrease throughout the week, but the fact that he could not practice in some capacity on Friday suggests that he might not play Sunday. If Kamara, who is listed as questionable, does not suit up, the Saints would turn to Mark Ingram (ankle). We could also see some rushing work from Taysom Hill, making him an interesting option for your fantasy lineup given his eligibility at the tight end position.
J.K. Dobbins Injury Update
Dobbins (knee) practiced in full all week long and is listed as questionable for Week 2. Even though he looked healthy in practice, the Ravens are leaving an injury designation on him heading into the weekend since he hasn't played since 2020. Still, it looks like Dobbins has finally recovered from his torn ACL, making him the clear No. 1 in Baltimore's run-heavy offense. He might have to compete with Lamar Jackson for attempts on the ground, but Dobbins should still see a near-full workload, putting him in the low-end RB2 tier this week.
Leonard Fournette Injury Update
Fournette (hamstring) helped carry the Buccaneers to victory in Week 1 with his 137 scrimmage yards. However, in the coming days, he popped up on the injury report. Fournette was able to log limited practice sessions all three days this week, so although he was never a full participant, he was never absent, either. At this point, it seems likely that Fournette suits up in Week 2. He gets a slight boost with Chris Godwin sidelined, putting him in the mid-to-high RB2 tier.
Kenneth Walker III Injury Update
Walker (hernia) was removed from the Seahawks' final injury report and is expected to make his NFL debut against the 49ers on Sunday. The rookie should see usage in his first pro game, but he's still behind Rashaad Penny on the depth chart and therefore should be viewed as nothing more than a low-end RB4 for the time being.
Mark Ingram III Injury Update
Ingram (ankle) carries a "questionable" designation into Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. Evidently, the Saints find themselves in some trouble at the running back position. If Kamara (ribs) can't play, they really need someone like Ingram to be healthy. Fortunately, Ingram was limited in practice all week long, meaning that he saw reps on each of the three days. Assuming he plays and Kamara doesn't, Ingram should be viewed as a mid-to-high RB3 option.
Damien Williams Injury Update
Williams (ribs) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Rams. He exited last week's game early, did not return, and will now be unavailable for Week 2. Most notably, this news means that Cordarrelle Patterson will continue to feast after tallying a whopping 136 scrimmage yards and one touchdown last week. However, it also means that hyped-up rookie Tyler Allgeier will be active for his debut. Allgeier should be left on waivers in most redraft leagues, but it will still be interesting to see if he overtakes Williams as Atlanta's new No. 2 back.
Dontrell Hilliard Injury Update
Hilliard (hamstring) did not practice for the second consecutive day on Friday. Since the Titans don't play until Monday, he'll have one more chance to return to the field on Saturday. If he is unable to do so, he likely won't suit up in Week 2. The backup to Derrick Henry, Hilliard logged an impressive 61 receiving yards and two touchdowns in last Sunday's opener.
Brandon Bolden Injury Update
Bolden (hamstring) did not practice this past week and, as a result, is listed as questionable heading into Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Bolden logged 21 receiving yards and one touchdown in Week 1. Although he will continue to receive touches in Josh McDaniels' offense upon his return, he belongs on waivers in most fantasy leagues. With the 32-year-old expected to be sidelined, Ameer Abdullah and Zamir White should see an increase in snaps.
Salvon Ahmed Injury Update
Ahmed (heel) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens. He did not practice on Wednesday, then logged limited sessions on Thursday and Friday. Even if he suits up against Baltimore, Ahmed should be left on waivers in all fantasy football leagues due to a lack of opportunity.
Dwayne Washington Injury Update
Washington (hamstring) is the third Saints running back listed as questionable for Week 2, joining Kamara and Ingram. Washington logged three limited practice sessions this week. Depending on the health of his backfield-mates, Washington could see an increase in snaps, assuming he's active. Regardless of what happens, he should be left on waivers.
Pierre Strong Jr. Injury Update
Strong (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Week 2 against the Steelers. He was a healthy scratch last Sunday but is now in jeopardy of missing this contest due to an actual injury. Over the last week, Strong received a promotion to the No. 3 running back role after Ty Montgomery was placed on IR. Strong has the pass-catching skills to potentially take over for Montgomery and the retired James White, but he might not have an immediate role in the New England offense. He should be left on waivers in redraft formats.
