7 years agoThe 30-year-old Andrew Landry from Austin, Texas, captured his first PGA title this weekend at the Valero Texas Open. Landry's 17-under par performance gave him a two-shot victory over Trey Mullinax and Sean O'Hair. Landry's career-best finish before this victory was a second-place showing six starts ago at the Career Builder Challenge, where he lost in a playoff to Jon Rahm. Landry, who is only 5-foot-7 in height, managed to win at a course that one would have thought to be too long for him. Landry finished 46th in driving distance but managed to put everything else together to make up for it. Landry finished first in strokes gained approach, first in strokes gained tee to green, first in strokes gained total, first in greens in regulation, second in scrambling, eighth in strokes gained in putting and ninth in strokes gained off the tee. Landry was as steady as could be from Thursday all the way to Sunday. His 69-67-67-68 gave him four consecutive rounds under 70, which included a bogey-free round on Saturday and only four total bogeys throughout the four days. Landry came into this event with a $7,000 price tag on DraftKings and an outright price in Vegas of 150/1.
