7 years agoJordan Spieth and Ryan Palmer entered the 2018 Zurich Classic hoping to exceed last year's T5 finish, in the inaugural New Orleans team event. What they got instead was a nightmare finish, spurned on by an imploding Jordan Spieth. The team of Spieth and Palmer entered the 17th hole on Friday at eight-under par and just five shots off the lead. On the par-three 17th hole, Spieth flew his tee shot into the water, and they walked away from the hole with a double-bogey five. On the par-five 18th, Palmer hit a 271-yard drive to the left fairway. In between clubs and not in the right mindset, Spieth made another astonishing error going into the water once more. Palmer compounded the issue with a wedge shot that came up short and plugged in the bunker, leaving Spieth unable to get out of the sand on the teams fifth shot. Eventually, Spieth drained a 19'4" putt for another double-bogey, but unfortunately for them, it was too little too late. Spieth and Palmer finished at four-under par and missed the cut by one stroke. Spieth, who complained about not being able to find his game all tournament, is not entered into this week's Wells Fargo Championship. We will see him next during the following week's Players Championship.--Spencer Aguiar - RotoBaller
