Jason Dufner Struggles During Memorial Title Defense
7 years agoJason Dufner shot a four-over par during the Memorial Tournament, missing the cut by four strokes. Being the defending champion of an event always brings tons of attention to you that week, but Dufner had an even larger spotlight than most. He was paired with Tiger Woods and Justin Rose for his opening two rounds. Woods always attracts massive-sized audiences, and it appeared as if Dufner was chasing his tail on Thursday and Friday. Dufner, who has been known to struggle with his putter, was especially unsatisfactory around the greens at Muirfield Village. Dufner lost 3.889 strokes compared to the field putting and was pretty horrendous in hitting greens in regulation, doing so at just a 58 percent rate. The 41-year-old American golfer will not participate in the FedEx St. Jude Classic this week but will compete in the U.S. Open that begins June 14. Dufner has three top-10 finishes since 2012 in U.S. Open tournaments.
