Streaming Wars - Waiver Wire Targets for June 14

Welcome back to Streaming Wars, your one-stop shop for streaming the waiver wire all season long. This article, now in its second year, runs seven days a week. Even at this relatively early juncture, there's plenty of value in streaming.

For those who are newcomers to this feature - use this column on a daily basis to improve upon your neediest categories, and target players who may be available on your waiver wire.

Below are your pitcher and hitter streaming targets for Thursday, June 14. Let's get to it.

Editor's Note: Our incredible team of writers received five total writing awards and 13 award nominations by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association, tops in the industry! Congrats to all the award winners and nominees including Best MLB Series, NFL Series, NBA Writer, PGA Writer and Player Notes writer of the year. Be sure to follow their analysis, rankings and advice all year long, and win big with RotoBaller! Read More!

Agenda

  1. Vacation, All I Ever Wanted
  2. Today's Weather and Updates
  3. Tomorrow's Picks

1. Vacation, All I Ever Wanted

I'll be in the wilderness over the weekend, so my esteemed colleague Brad Johnson will be your streaming sensei for the Sunday slate. I'll be subbing in for him a couple of times later in the month.

2. Today's Weather and Updates - Wednesday, June 13

Rain is possible for Angels-Mariners and probable for Mets-Braves. All other games should proceed sans meteorological influence.

3. Streamer Picks - Thursday, June 14

Pitchers to Use

As is usually the case with the limited Thursday slate, the wire runs pretty shallow with streamable arms. The best of the bunch is  Steven Matz against the Diamondbacks. You'll need to hold your nose over their recent struggles, but Dan Straily against the Giants and Vince Velasquez at home against the Rockies are defensible gambles.

Other Targets: None

Pitchers to Exploit

Frankie Montas has allowed just three runs in  21 innings across his first three starts, all victories. He's also faced the Royals twice. A date with the Astros presents a much greater challenge, and his uninspiring peripherals suggest he may not be up to the task.

Other Targets: Carlos Rodon, Felix Hernandez

Homers on the Wire

Brandon McCarthy has struggled to keep the ball in the yard this year, making Franmil Reyes (four bombs in the past two weeks) a great power play. Other Padres worth consideration are Hunter Renfroe and Christian Villanueva.

Other Targets: Jeimer Candelario, Nick Williams, Daniel Palka, Derek Dietrich, Carlos Gonzalez, Matt Chapman

Steals on the Wire

Jose Iglesias has featured regularly in my middle infield waiver wire column this year. , I'm curious to see if whichever of my colleagues pinch-hits for me will recommend him. The Tigers' shortstop shook off a horrid start and has hit .287/.330/.421 with seven stolen bases since April 21. The Twins don't generally do a great job against base runners.

Other Targets: Dustin FowlerMallex Smith, Denard Span
