DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (6/8/19): MLB DFS Lineups

By User chris.ptacek on Flickr (Originally posted to Flickr as "[1]") [CC-BY-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

A really strange day of baseball with two doubleheaders wreaking havoc on the slates. To confuse matters even more, neither of the Rays @ Red Sox games appear on either slate, while both of the Athletics @ Rangers games appear on slates. In total there are two main slates, both with fairly even weighting. The first is an eight-game afternoon slate starting at 2:10. The second is a six-game evening slate, starting at 7:15. You will find picks for both of those slates below.

The early slate has no real favorites on it, but there are some interesting lines. Those include Zack Greinke as an underdog in Toronto. Currently, there also are not any stand out favorites on the late slate either. What that does mean is the potential for a fascinating day full of close baseball games. In terms of totals, there are no double-digit lines, with lowest being a line of seven in the Nationals @ Padres game.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 6/8/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. Be sure to also check out all the Vegas Odds for today's slate. DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Zack Greinke, ARI (@ TOR) - $10,100 (Early)

This is a high price to pay but Greinke is worth it. He averages 18 points per game but has the upside where he has scored over 20 on numerous occasions. Additionally, he is facing one of the worst lineups in the majors, who rank bottom five in most hitting categories this season. The only notable element they are slightly higher in is home runs, but they still only rank 21st.

CC Sabathia, NYY (@ CLE) - $7,700 (Early)

This is not the fun or exciting option you might want, put Sabathia offers solid production while coming at a price you can still build a lineup around. In his last three starts, he has scored double-digit points, unfortunately, not peaking over 20. However, you are not looking for upside with this pick, just trying to hit close to that two points per $1k

Jack Flaherty, STL (@ CHC) - $9,000 (Late)

This pick is all about the weather. We saw Cole Hamels pitch well last night with a favorable wind, and Flaherty may have even better conditions. The wind is blowing in strong from center field, which should keep a cap on scoring. There is also upside as the Cubs rank ninth worst in the majors in strikeouts per nine. Flaherty could have a nice outing here, as a reasonably cheap price.

Steven Matz, NYM (vs. COL) - $6,800 (Late)

Much like Sabathia Matz does not usually offer a major upside. In fact, he averages just 12 fantasy points per game. However, there is a nice combination at play for Matz in this game. The Rockies rank among the worst in the majors in road strikeouts, do not sit much higher when it comes to power statistics on the road, and the weather in his favor. There is ever chance Matz achieves or even exceeds, that two fantasy points per $1k barrier.

DraftKings DFS Infielders

C - Roberto Perez, CLE (vs. NYY) - $3,600 (Early)

Perez is a lovely value play on the early slate at the catcher the position. He is a relatively cheap option, who has solid numbers against left-handed hitter this season. In just 49 PA he already has four home runs, a .268 batting average, a .293 ISO and a .398 wOBA.

C - Willson Contreras, CHC (vs. STL) - $4,400 (Late)

No value stands out to me on this slate so instead, I am just going to play the best catcher on the slate. The weather is not ideal for hitting, but Contreras as good numbers this season against right-handed pitchers, with a .271 ISO and a .407 wOBA.

1B - Matt Olson, OAK (@ TEX) - $4,400 (Early)

Olson is offering decent value here, playing a game in a hitters park. Olson has nice numbers against left-handed pitchers, with three home runs in 30 PA, with a .370 ISO and a .395 wOBA.

1B - Ryan McMahon, COL (@ NYM) - $4,000 (Late)

Any time the Rockies go away from home it is always hard to pick one of their hitters. Hover, McMahon has really nice numbers against left-handed hitters, with three home runs, a .293 ISO and a .437 wOBA in 43 PA.

2B - Hanser Alberto, BAL (@ HOU) - $3,300 (Early)

Alberto has solid numbers against left-handed pitching this year, with a .411 batting average, two home runs, and a .412 wOBA. One issue is that he has yet to a home run on the road this season, but is hitting .354 on the road.

2B - Brian Dozier, WSH (@ SD) - $3,700 (Late)

It is only when there is a left-handed pitcher on the slate that I would consider playing Dozier. The veteran second baseman has three home runs, a .364 batting average, .318 ISO and a .463 wOBA with left-handed pitchers on the mound. Also, eight of his nine home runs have come on the road this season.

3B - Matt Chapman, OAK (@ TEX) - $5,100 (Early)

It is a little confusing with these Athletics players because they are playing on both slates. However, in most cases, it is the matchup with the left-handed pitcher we are looking to exploit on the early slate. Chapman could arguably be a play on both slates, but especially so against the lefty, where he has six home runs in 63 PA, giving him a .412 ISO and a .407 wOBA.

SS - Tim Beckham, SEA (vs. LAA) - $3,700 (Late)

Beckham has been a nice contributor this season and is a really nice DFS play against left-handed pitchers. In 63 PA, he has four home runs, a .288 batting average, .237 ISO and a .360 wOBA.

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Mark Canha, OAK (@ TEX) - $4,600 (Early)

Canha could also be a play on either slate quite frankly. I am recommending the Athletics early, because the heat should be higher, and the ball should fly further in that game. Canha has three home runs, a .278 ISO and a .372 wOBA against left-handed pitchers.

Trey Mancini, BAL (@ HOU) - $4,500 (Early)

Mancini is having a wonderful season, but his numbers against left-handed pitching are particularly fun for DFS. Against lefties, he has a .270 ISO and a .406 wOBA.

Stephen Piscotty, OAK (@ TEX) - $4,300 (Early)

Piscotty is strictly just an early slate play because his lefty vs. righty numbers are extremely lopsided. Against left-handed pitchers, Piscotty has three home runs, a .382 batting average, .236 ISO and a .429 wOBA.

Juan Soto, WSH (@ SD) - $4,900 (Late)

Soto is another all-around talent and this feels like a nice price for him. He has a .376wOBA and a .232 ISO when lefties are on the mound, and a switch to a right-handed pitcher later in the game will not harm his potential.

Michael Conforto, NYM (vs. COL) - $4,200 (Late)

Conforto has been extremely consistent this year, and against right-handed pitchers, he is a solid option in the late slate. His ISO against righties is .291 and his wOBA is .402.

Harrison Bader, STL (@ CHC) - $3,400 (Late)

Bader has had a reasonably tough year with injuries and a slow start. However, he already has a home run in June and his numbers against left-handed pitchers are promising. Against lefties, he has a .294 ISO and a .351 wOBA.
