Justin Verlander Cruises To 15th Win
5 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Justin Verlander threw six innings, allowed just one run off of three hits, and struck out 10 batters en route to a 3-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday. Verlander walked just one batter in the contest and displayed excellent control, aside from one mistake in the 7th inning that resulted in a Kyle Seager solo shot to end his outing. Aside from the home run issues (1.66 HR/9 is a career-high), Verlander has been excellent this season. He's now 15-4 with a 2.68 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, and a career-best .168 batting average against. His 206/33 K/BB ratio, 16.5% swinging-strike rate, and 33.7% strikeout rate are all key indicators that he remains a top-tier starting pitcher in fantasy baseball. Continue to hold on to and start the Astros workhorse.
