Fantasy Basketball Week In Review: Week 17

Welcome to the RotoBaller NBA Recap. In this feature, we will highlight one key fantasy basketball takeaway from each night during the past week. These viewpoints can be both positive and negative and will hopefully help to provide insight into different roster moves you should consider making.

Fantasy basketball has a lot of moving pieces with all the different scoring settings that are possible to play under, so I will always do my best to spotlight where players gain or lose value in certain game types.

Without further ado, let's get right into the 17th week of the season and try to figure out how to take advantage of what we saw transpire.

Monday, February 10th

Mikal Bridges Continues To Stuff Stat Sheet 

It has been an impressive past five games for Mikal Bridges, who has averaged 13 points, five rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.0 blocks, 2.0 steals and 2.0 threes per contest.

Bridges has catapulted himself into providing top-60 value over the past two weeks, and it doesn't hurt that he is currently only rostered in 58 percent of Yahoo settings. That number will likely go up by the time this article has been posted, but I don't believe everyone is quite ready to jump on board with Dario Saric nearing a return.

Given how well Bridges has played during Saric's absence, head coach Monty Williams is going to have a tough decision on his hands shortly, but I doubt we see a change get made with how well the 23-year-old is playing right now. If you have a chance, pick Bridges up and let this situation play itself out.

Tuesday, February 11th

Bradley Beal Keeps Up Scoring Onslaught 

Bradley Beal has taken his All-Star snub to heart, averaging 32 points per game in February to go along with 3.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.7 steals and 2.3 three-pointers.

Beal's production has helped the Wizards claw their way to within three games of the eighth-seeded Orlando Magic, which is encouraging news for his owners that were afraid of the team shutting him down during the latter portion of the year.

Beal is currently producing as a top-15 player in point-settings and has entered the same realm in nine-category leagues also. If you own the former Florida Gator, enjoy the ride and stand pat.

Wednesday, February 12th

Malik Beasley Has Found A New Home

Since Malik Beasley has been traded from the Denver Nuggets to the Minnesota Timberwolves, he has averaged 22.0 points, 4.7 triples, 6.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 0.7 steals per game.

On Wednesday, Beasley kept the positive momentum rolling by connecting on 11-of-25 shots, scoring 28 points to go with six rebounds, three assists and five three-point baskets.

Beasley is only owned in 40 percent of Yahoo groups as of Wednesday, and while that number will continue to climb by the time this article releases, I still believe we see him available in about 50% of settings as of Saturday morning. If he is floating around one of your waiver wires, be sure to scoop him up as fast as you can.

Thursday, February 13th

Landry Shamet Could Be A Short-Term Add

Anytime a player records 48 minutes in a game (overtime or not), it is worth giving them a second look. Landry Shamet did just that on Thursday against the Boston Celtics, scoring 19 points on four three-pointers made.

Shamet had been experiencing a short-term boost from Patrick Beverley's groin injury, and it seems likely he will take on an even larger share with Paul George now suffering from a hamstring aggravation of his own.

The second-year player out of Wichita State will be a volatile source for your field goal percentage, but teams that are looking for a boost in both scoring and three-point output should give Shamet a second look. His 21% ownership means you can probably find him floating around your waiver wire, and there is potential to be pleasantly surprised by what the 22-year-old can bring to your squad for a few games.
