Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - MLB Hitter, Pitcher Lineup Picks for Tuesday 8/4

The stream machine rolls on for another day! We're going to continue to exploit Coors and take advantage of favorable platoon splits. Let's get it!

When choosing my daily hitter streamers, I examine their platoon splits, lineup position, and pitching matchup. With pitchers, I account for the opposing lineup, team ballpark, and recent performance to help make my decision.

Each of my streamers will be rostered in between 0-40% of Yahoo leagues, with a mixed focus on both shallow and deeper formats. Let’s take a look at the Tuesday slate and dig out some streamer gems to help you start the week off on the right track.

Editor's Note: Our incredible team of writers received five total writing awards and 13 award nominations by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association, tops in the industry! Hitter Streamers for 8/4

Howie Kendrick (1B/2B/3B, WAS, RHB) 38% Rostered

Howie Kendrick is expected to be back in the lineup against lefty Steven Matz. Kendrick absolutely obliterated southpaws last season, slashing .376/.421/.615 against them. Juan Soto will likely be returning to the lineup as well, so the Nats' bats should get a big boost. While Matz has gotten off to a good start this season, showing increased velocity on his sinker (up 1.4 MPH), he's still an inconsistent pitcher that we'll try to exploit here.

Yandy Diaz (3B, TB, RHB) 20% Rostered

Yandy Diaz is only batting .167 with zero home runs this season, but he's actually seeing the ball well with nine walks and only five strikeouts. Diaz feasts on left-handed pitching, slashing .311/.393/.583 against them in 2019. He goes up against Red Sox southpaw Martin Perez, who has struggled with control in the early going, allowing six free passes in only 10.2 innings, so Diaz should be able to get on-base in this one. Diaz has hit in the one, three, and five-hole this season, so he's in a great position to succeed here.

Monte Harrison (OF, MIA, RHB) 3% Rostered

The Marlins were forced to call up 24-year old prospect Monte Harrison to fill the roster because of their coronavirus outbreak. Harrison is a toolsy hitter who has intriguing power and speed potential, but with poor plate discipline. He kicks off his MLB career in a series at Camden Yards against righty Alex Cobb, so he's in the right park to do damage. Hitters with poor plate discipline tend to be streaky, so let's hope Harrison comes out of the gate firing and ready for a hot streak. Roll the dice and take the risk on Harrison.

Brandon Belt (1B/OF, SF, LHB) - 3% Rostered

Matchup: vs. COL RHP German Marquez

I'm recommending Brandon Belt for the second day in a row because it's just such a good spot. Last season, Belt slashed .265/.358/.498 with 11 of his 17 home runs on the road against righties. Belt continues to bat cleanup for the Giants, so he's once again a must-play. You'd be hard-pressed to find a cleanup hitter in a better spot on your waiver wire. We'll stream him against German Marquez, a talented righty who struggles at Coors Field.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/3

John Means (LHP, BAL) vs. MIA 15% Rostered

John Means looks to bounce back from a poor debut against the Yankees, where he allowed five earned runs in only 2.1 innings of work. He takes on a depleted Marlins team playing their first game since July 26 after pausing their season due to a coronavirus outbreak. Means is intriguing because he's showing increased velocity, with his four-seamer up from 91.7 MPH to 95.2 MPH. This is a significant jump and we might have something here. We can throw out his start against a stacked Yankee lineup and bet on him here against the Marlins.

Tyler Mahle (RHP, CIN) vs. CLE 3% Rostered

Tyler Mahle takes on an Indians team that is struggling against righties, posting a 25.2 K% (22nd) and .248 wOBA (29th). Mahle also has seen a bit of a jump in velocity so far, with his four-seamer up 0.7 MPH to 94 MPH. He's also interesting because he posted a 14.5 swinging-strike rate in his first start, which is a 4.9% increase from last season. This is another case of a potential gem buried under-the-radar because he has not put together a strong start yet. I'd bet that it happens against the Indians here.
