Tom Murphy Out Of The Lineup For Second Straight Day
4 years agoSeattle Mariners catcher Tom Murphy is out of the lineup for the second straight day after starting on opening day. In his stead, Luis Torrens will be behind the plate. Manager Scott Servais insisted in his pre-game news conference that Murphy is not injured, and is just being rested ahead of several upcoming matchups against lefty starters. Murphy is slated to start two of three games in Seattle's next series against the White Sox. All this suggests that the catching role is truly being split almost evenly for the Mariners. Murphy had a strong season in 2019 before missing most of 2020 with an injury, but his fantasy value is limited without seeing a larger percent of the playing time.
