Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Welcome to the April 25th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on the April 24th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • Rhys Hoskins (six) with two tickets to paradise.
  • Fernando Tatis Jr. (six) on the same flight including a 414-ft one-eyed jack.
  • Gausman, sweet Kevin Gausman. 8 IP, 1 ER, 11 K.
  • Matthew Boyd  (8 IP, 1 ER, 3 K) & Brady Singer (7 IP, 1 ER, 8 K) demonstrate such harmony that figure skating pairs would be jealous. They go their own way next vs CWS & MIN, respectively. Eesh. Singer gives you only two options (Sinker/Slider).  Boyd continues to ramp up the changeup usage while dropping the slider.
  • Dylan Carlson w/ three hits batting second. Yes, please. No, not for me. I wasn't smart enough to invest in him anywhere.
  • Nathan Eovaldi didn't get the memo. It was Seattle (5 IP, 4 ER, 3 K). TEX next.
  • Anthony Rizzo (three) has more SB than....well, everyone with two or less, of course. Profound!
  • Nats w/ seven runs!!! Woooh!!....oh, Trea Turner with none. hmmm.
  • "The very first time, that I saw your brown eyes; Your lips said hello & I said Hi." I knew right then you would hit home runs. Yep, Michael Conforto w/ his first.
  • One-arm bandit was not nice to Marcus Stroman. He landed on 4-4-4 and takes the loss. (4 IP, 4 ER, 4 K).
  • Shohei Ohtani (six) sends another postcard.
  • Albert Pujols (four HR); Jared Walsh (four HR). Ooooh, Pujols will not relinquish easily.
  • Don't let them Astros bats wake up. Carlos Correa (four; keep forgetting he hits HR); Alex Bregman (three); Kyle Tucker (five; he hasn't even started flaunting his sexiness)
  • Yes, Ryan Yarbrough as a follower. This is the way. 5.2 IP, 6 K.
  • Robbie Ray in disguise. Not a single walk. 6 IP, 3 ER, 9 K. ATL next.
  • Three taters in four days for Randal Grichuk (four). Why is his seat at the big table not secured?
  • Pssst, Marcus Semien. Here is your card to the 5 HR/5 SB club. Push The Art of War to find the secret door.
  • Streaks warming: Rougned Odor w/ back-to-back HR games.
  • Eddie Rosario resupplies your SB appetizer (five) until his hitting/power is served. Gonna be a career year for him, SB-wise.
  • Gerrit Cole & Shane Bieber dominate, as expected.
  • Michael Pineda doing charity work at his local outreach centers. 4.1 IP, 4 ER, 5 K vs PIT. KC next.
  • Michael Perez & Kevin Newman give each other a jumping high five...yep, with w/legs curled behind them. Firsties! Nope, these wouldn't be my power options.
  • Stephen Piscotty & Trent Grisham visited South of The Border...all their photos included a Golden Sombrero.
  • Kyle Gibson is warmed up. (6 IP, 1 ER, 5 K). Throwing a cutter (15%) for the first time (only five times in 2020.) BOS next. Hmmm.
  • Willie Calhoun finally pays his due to join the party. First HR.
  • Yoan Moncada hitting .400 last seven days. Uh-oh. Weather is not the only thing heating up.
  • Ryan McMahon w/ his seventh taste of the Rockies.
  • Jon Berti hits homers. You doubt me?
  • Kurt Emanuel wore #0; he was anything but. 8.2 IP, 2 ER, 5 K. I would hesitate in running to him.
  • Dodgers security system is like the Security Guard meme. You've seen it. Wil Myers w/ three steals.
  • Jake Odorizzi with forearm tightness. Terrible. Good thoughts to you.

Swing & Misses (2021 K-BB%)

Endgame

Closing Thoughts

  • Good mornin'. Good mornin'. It's a gorgeous Sunday. Wake up and stretch/workout. Take the time to make yourself a hearty breakfast. Catch up on your chores. Do a little FAB, make a little love, get down tonight. Have a great stress-free Sunday.
  • Don't forget to look at your FAB leagues. Make a list of players for each league. Make a conditional bid for all of them. You can keep adding throughout the day. You can adjust the bid amounts this evening. Just make sure you don't forget anyone. Also, don't bid on just any player. Make sure they have a purpose on your roster. Recommendation: Set Lineup, identify weaknesses (for that week), find free agents to improve the weakness.
