4 years agoSeattle Mariners catcher Luis Torrens had a rough night at the plate Friday, repeatedly coming up with men on base but never managing to deliver. Torrens batted in the five hole against Andrew Heaney and the Angels, but despite the many opportunities ended the game with only one hit in five at-bats and no runs scored or driven in. Despite good hard-hit rates historically, Torrens has limped to a .524 OPS for the year. This was a prime opportunity to stake his claim to a greater share of the playing time, but thus far both he and fellow backstop Tom Murphy have disappointed. Torrens is only a consideration in two-catcher leagues, and even there he's best left to the waiver wire.--Doug Goldring - RotoBaller
