3 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Austin Gomber earned the win on Wednesday when he allowed three runs on three hits with one walk and three strikeouts over six innings in a 6-3 win over the Seattle Mariners. Gomber was making his first start in nearly a month after sitting out with left forearm tightness. He only threw 71 pitches--42 strikes--so he was on a pitch count after his lengthy absence. All three runs against him came via solo home runs from Kyle Seager, Luis Torrens, and Mitch Haniger. He was fortunate that no one was on base for the homers and the Colorado offense did enough to pick him up and get him his seventh win of the year. The southpaw now owns a 3.74 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 79:24 K/BB ratio over 84 1/3 innings (16 starts). He'll get the Angels on the road in his next start and should throw more than 71 pitches in that one.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
