Rays @ Orioles

More or Less Contest

Shane McClanahan , more than 5.5 strikeouts and Matt Harvey more than 3.5 strikeouts

McClanahan has been solid lately as he has allowed three earned runs or fewer in each start since June 9th. He has also struck out at least six batters in each of his previous six starts, including an eight strikeout performance against these Orioles in his most recent start on August 19th. The Orioles are currently posting the third-highest K rate vs. left-handers over the previous 10 days with a rate of 27.6%.

Matt Harvey and the Orioles will probably get lit up in this game, but he should still be able to get over this total. He has gone over 3.5 strikeouts in five of his previous six starts and also struck out six Rays on August 16th. The Rays are posting a K rate of 26.9% vs. right-handers over the previous 10 days, which is ranked fourth-worst in baseball over that span.

Red Sox @ Indians

More or Less Contest

Eduardo Rodriguez more than 5.5 strikeouts and Logan Allen less than 3.5 strikeouts

While the Indians are striking out at a rate of just 19.7% vs. left-handers over the previous 10 days, this rate should be high enough for a high-strikeout caliber pitcher like ERod to go over 5.5. He has had some massive K outputs recently and has at least eight strikeouts in four of his previous seven starts.

Logan Allen has been in the minors since the beginning of July and will get no favors against this Red Sox team upon his return. They are posting a K rate of just 20.2% vs. left-handers in August. They are also posting a 113 wRC+ vs. lefties this month and should be able to get to Allen early and often. He has also only gone over 3.5 strikeouts in one start this season and that was a five strikeout performance against the free-swinging Tigers back in April.
