Daily Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Welcome to the August 16th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's box scores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on the August 15th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • Who's the Master?! "Sho'Nuff?" No, Fernando Tatis Jr.! 4-for-5, 33 HR, .300 AVG. OF eligibility coming.
  • Aaron Nola, I think we've got enough coupons for a discount in 2022 drafts.
  • Low & Slow! Austin Riley knows how Rawlings should be BBQ'd (25).
  • Frank Schwindel just LEROY JENKINS'd it (five)
  • Rodolfo Castro, you want to make it in this business, stay away from Golden Sombreros.
  • Dansby Swanson came out with a Hearty Helping TV dinner. 6 HR, 3 SB, .407 AVG in last 15 games.
  • Have we mentioned Tyler Stephenson before? Why is he only 21% rostered?
  • Welcome back to the 25/15 club, monsieur Ozzie Albies.
  • 28.1 ft/sec sprint speed & you only have five SB? No, no, no. I'm thankful, Willy Adames.
  • Triston McKenzie, you foul. Why would you walk right up to Detroit & ask them to take a big 'ol Whiff (36%)
  • CLE with six players with multi-hit game. Ooh-la-la.
  • Category management. If your team needs SB, but dominates HR...why would you prioritize Yasmani Grandal over Jorge Alfaro (seven)
  • Lucas Giolito. Focus! Don't worry about 2022. We're still playing 2021.
  • You want to play fantasy baseball. Lesson one: More maple syrup! Why is Tyler O'Neill only 58% rostered? 20 HR, 9 SB, .272 AVG.
  • Elieser Hernandez returns w/ solid 27% CSW. (Velo at 90.4 mph)
  • Salvador Perez is selling out of CRUSHER Run (30).
  • Paul Goldschmidt spent the whole offseason working on fast-twitch muscles (nine SB). What did you do?
  • Alex Colome is bringing a W, instead of a SV. Do we accept? Ok. Thank you, Mr. Colome. All currency is accepted.
  • Nestor Cortes is silky smooth. 32% CSW. 6 IP, 1 ER, 7 K vs CWS.
  • Someone has tainted the Sean Manaea gas tank. 5 IP, 7 ER, 5 K. See if SF can come fix it.
  • DJ Peters impresses w/ two turn tables & a microphone. For people to start a "good" mosh pit, you'll need better than .191 AVG.
  • Matt Chapman painting with the long brush (17)
  • **panting** "Can I get a sip of water? It took me forever to get here, Whit Merrifield." ~ Starling Marte (33 SB)
  • Back up, Rockies. You're making Alex Wood look too good (35% CSW)
  • Lance McCullers Jr., I sent you to knock over some lawn Angels. How hard was it? 5.2 IP, 2 ER, 8 K.
  • Aledmys Diaz only 19% rostered. Disrespectful.
  • Max Muncy (25) adds two layers of the rainbow & has Matt Beaty (five) finish it off.
  • Don't look but Michael Conforto has .409 AVG last seven games. I told you not to look. Now it's ruined.
  • Your cousin Randal Grichuk is calling (20th HR). "Haven't hear from him in awhile. What's he want?"
  • Corey Dickerson is loving the family. 1 HR, 1 SB, .333 AVG in the last seven games.
  • Keep holding Carlos Carrasco tight. He'll shine up. 2 IP, 6 ER. (you decide if sarcasm is included in package)
  • Brent Suter with 12 wins?!

Endgame

Closing Thoughts

  • Good Monday mornin'. Inner peace. It is tough to decide how to help that person. You rarely have conversations with them. If you have no idea where to start, do this: Give someone a W. Do something nice for someone. Do something to make someone smile. Make it a game. Try to see how many people you can make smile with your compliments, humor, or even good-natured civility. Making sure someone else a great day will ensure you have a great day.
  • (No Fear, Just Fantasy)
