ANALYSIS: Jordan Akins suffered a concussion back in Week 4, and he's been out the past two games. That has put veteran Darren Fells in the spotlight during those two matches, which he absolutely took advantage of. Although he was only targeted 2 times in Week 5, Fells went to on to log 7 targets this past weekend and play the most snaps of his season so far at 62, 10 more than his previous-best 52 in Week 4.
Akins is the clear TE1 of the Texans, and you better have that clear in your mind. Once Akins is back, Fells will get back to his blocking duties and won't be much of a fantasy-relevant player. We don't know if Akins will be back next weekend, but if he is still out then Fells is going to be one of the best streamers at the position.
In his two starts, Fells has finished with 13.7 and 20.5 PPR points in Weeks 5 and 6. He went 2 targets-2 receptions-57 yards-1 TD against Jacksonville and leveled up a ton against Tennesse yesterday with a 7-6-85-1 line, getting more receiving yards than Akins has in any game this season and outperforming him 3-1 in the TD-scoring department over the year.
The Packers aren't the greatest of matchups next weekend (8th-best defense at preventing TE fantasy points) but if Akins is out you shouldn't hesitate to play Fells as your TE. In any other case, you should pass on him, as his upside is just non-existent with Akins on the field.
