DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Daily Fantasy College Football (12/18/21)

We have finally reached Bowl season! It's bittersweet since that means there are only 44 college football games left of the 2021 season. It has been a wild, and mostly fun, ride. If you want access to all of our premium college football content for 2022, the folks at Rotoballer are offering it FREE to the winner of our bowl pool! Sign up here! One entry per person please.

We are happy to have college football back in our lives for a few weeks. The big thing with bowls it to try to do as best as you can to keep up on player news. It can be sometimes hard to find or even non-existent so beware of that first and foremost. This may mean to go “safer” with your builds in more of a cash game model for players you know are likely to play. You can certainly take a flyer on some low end players who may see a nice boost ramping up for next year.

DraftKings CFB DFS Quarterbacks

As noted above, the news here will be critical as two of the top three quarterbacks come into their bowls with questions. Malik Willis is projected to be a first round pick, so it would not be a shock if he skips this game. There has been no news yet so if he does play he could easily be the top raw points player on the board and would be a great play in all formats. Jake Haener is the other quarterback with some questions as he initially entered his name in the transfer portal when his coach moved on to Washington, but has since removed it and plans to come back to Fresno St. There has not been much talk what that means for the bowl game, but if he plays he should be a solid option.

The other top options on this slate are Logan Bonner, Jaren Hall and Chance Nolan. Bonner gets the second worst defense on the slate as Oregon State gives up 28.3 points per game. On the other side, Nolan is likely to have to keep up with the Aggies, so he could be in for a nice game as well in a game stack.

Grant Wells and Ben Bryant are avoids on this slate as Wells has struggled most of the year and is overpriced. Bryant meanwhile goes up against a Liberty defense that gives up the third fewest passing yards per game in the country.

DraftKings CFB DFS Running Backs

At running back, we have a few of the safest options on the board in Rasheen Ali and Tyler Allgeier. Ali might be the safest play on the entire slate as he has at least 16 carries in every game since week three and has also worked in 3+ receptions in each of the past five games. Allgeier has perhaps the highest ceiling on the slate with four games over 34 fantasy points this year. He is a bit spendy, but if you can find value he is worth the money.

The next group of running backs is the running back by committee group as UTEP, Fresno St and Louisiana all deploy multiple backs. UTEP and Fresno are the riskiest options, but with Chris Smith out due to injury, Emani Bailey should see more work at a nice discount against a Marshall defense that was 108th in the country in rushing defense. DeWayne McBride is the other injury to keep an eye on here as his absence could open up some value on this slate.

DraftKings CFB DFS Wide Receivers

As noted above, there are some questions at quarterback on this slate, which means there could be a trickle-down effect on receivers. Jalen Cropper and Demario Douglas are the two top options who could be hurt if their quarterback happens to sit out. That is why a player such as Deven Thompkins is the top option as he gets a great match-up and should have his quarterback in. Hassan Beydoun is also a fine cash game option with eight straight games with 5+ receptions, but as noted above, Liberty has an elite pass defense.

As far as cheaper options, Puka Nacua, Keric Wheatfall, Luke Musgrave and Peter LeBlanc have flashed big game upside this year. Meanwhile, players such as Xavier Gaines, Justin McGriff and Kevin Shaa have been consistent options.
