Happy Thursday, RotoBallers! This is John Brubaker dropping some of my favorite plays for today's slate. Thursdays are typically weird slates, and we have an early lock today with a six-game slate. After reviewing the slate, we're super short on pitching, with just a few studs taking the balls for their respective clubs.
FanDuel and DraftKings are giving us a six-game slate this afternoon. Each of the six games will be a conclusion of their mid-week series, as each team gets ready for their weekend sets. While this would be noteworthy to me when I'm making bets, in DFS it's much too difficult to figure out who will "show up" and who won't, so I won't be taking any of that into account. However, it will be imperative to keep an eye on lineups throughout the morning to make sure your favorite bats are in the lineup.
This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel at 12:10 pm on 6/23/2022. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options, and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Clayton Kershaw, LAD at CIN ($10,200 DK, $10,300 FD)
I'll start tonight's slate off with Clayton Kershaw. I mentioned earlier how we're pretty short on pitching on today's six-gamer. Kershaw sits head and shoulders over just about every other arm on the slate and I'd be surprised if he doesn't draw a ton of ownership. Regardless, my projections have Kershaw striking out 33.89% of hitters he faces today while keeping hard contact to a minimum (26.7%) and finishing with a 2.78 xFIP. The obvious concern is how deep he'll go into the game but he's still my clear favorite arm on the slate.
Justin Steele, CHC at PIT ($7,200 DK, $7,700 FD)
Justin Steele is an interesting case coming into today's slate. A lot of the guys at the top in regards of price (Kyle Wright, Hunter Greene) are in some difficult matchups, but Justin Steele is in a fantastic matchup against the Pirates. He draws a 45.34 rating because of this, the best on the slate. While I only project him to a strikeout rate of 18.14% and an xFIP of 3.91, I project the Pirates to garner just 22.81% hard contact against Steele this afternoon. The best we can hope for is for Steele to get through six and pick up a win for the Cubbies this afternoon.
Also consider: Kyle Wright, Jason Alexander

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Trea Turner - SS, LAD vs. Hunter Greene ($6,100 DK, $3,900 FD)
As far as hitters go, I'll start the slate off with Trea Turner. I'll be on the Dodgers today attacking the hot and cold right-hander Hunter Greene. Turner isn't a bad start, filling in the role for Mookie Betts in the leadoff spot. While he projects to just 35.11% hard contact, he projects to a .795 wOBA + ISO against Greene's pitch types as well as a 48.16 rating. He's seen Greene once this year already, going 2-3 with a homer and two RBIs.
Luis Arraez - 1B/2B, MIN vs. Zach Plesac ($5,200 DK, $3,200 FD)
Speaking of leadoff hitters, let's take a look at Luis Arraez. Arraez, like Turner, doesn't hit the ball extremely hard but finds a way to get hits. The lefty is hitting .351 with four home runs and 25 RBIs and a .868 OPS on the year. He has a projected wOBA + ISO of .685 and a 31.95% hard contact rate. He has some familiarity with Plesac, going 3-8 with two RBIs and a walk across eight at-bats.
Brendan Rodgers - 2B, COL vs. Braxton Garrett ($4,000 DK, $2,700 FD)
Probably my favorite infield play on the slate, Brendan Rodgers gets a fantastic matchup against Marlins southpaw Braxton Garrett. His 57.66 rating ranks fourth among infielders on the slate, and first among second basemen. I project him to have a 1.103 wOBA + ISO against Garrett's pitch types to pair with a 44.75% hard contact rate. He's faced Garrett twice, going 1-1 with a walk.
DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks
Ronald Acuna - OF, ATL vs. Alex Wood ($5,800 DK, $3,900 FD)
Down to the ATL for our first outfield play of the day, Ronald Acuna. Acuna is hitting .275 with seven homers and 18 RBIs on the year, as well as making a strong impact on the Braves' hot streak they're on. He projects just a 35.37% hard contact this afternoon, but has a projected .934 wOBA + ISO against Wood's pitch types. He's seen Wood on five occasions, coming out with just one hit. However, that one hit was a home run, so let's hope to see more of that this afternoon.
Jorge Soler- OF, MIA vs. Kyle Freeland ($4,100 DK, $2,800 FD)
A familiar face in my articles, I can't just fade Jorge Soler against a lefty. Soler, a World Series hero for the Braves last season, has struggled to pick up the pace in 2022, hitting just .221 with 13 homers. However, my model projects his fortunes to turn, at least for one day. I project Soler to have a 50.08% hard contact rate in this afternoon's matchup, along with a .741 wOBA + ISO against Kyle Freeland's pitch types. He surprisingly hasn't faced Freeland yet, so there's no familiarity there. Nevertheless, I expect him to get one today.
Chris Taylor - OF, LAD vs. Hunter Greene ($3,800 DK, $2,500 FD)
The Dodgers are my favorite stack on the slate (more on that in a bit), and Taylor is my favorite Dodger in the stack. His 51.4 rating sits above Trea Turner, and while he didn't have the same success against Greene in their first matchup, I expect him to get it back. He projects to a 42.44% hard contact rate and a .852 wOBA + ISO against Greene's pitch types. He'll likely be in the fifth spot this afternoon, so we're getting good value given his cheap price on both sites.
DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Hunter Greene
Despite missing potential MVP candidate Mookie Betts, the Dodgers have still been (somewhat) swinging it. While they rank first in stack rating (59.12), it'll be somewhat difficult to piece them together as my favorite guys are split throughout the lineup. Now that could change given the fact it is a getaway day for them, but regardless, I expect them to take advantage of Hunter Greene once again as well as feast on the Cincinnati bullpen.
Favorite Plays: Chris Taylor, Trea Turner, Freddie Freeman, Cody Bellinger, Austin Barnes
Colorado Rockies vs. Braxton Garrett
The Dodgers are closely followed by the Rockies, who come into today's slate with a 57.76 stack rating. They also have the highest average wOBA + ISO against the opposing starters' pitch types on the slate. They're a boom-or-bust type of offense, so I'll probably stay away and maybe look at Atlanta or Minnesota stacks in cash, but I absolutely LOVE the Rockies in GPPs. Unless everyone else feels the same way that I do about them today, I can guarantee I'll be over the field on them.
Favorite Plays: C.J. Cron, Brendan Rodgers, Brian Serven, Ryan McMahon, Connor Joe, Yonathan Daza
Also Consider: Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres
