FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (10/29/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Tuesday features nine games in all with a spotlight on games like Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, Toronto and Washington, plus even San Jose and Boston.

Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. There are several games at 6.5, as that has become the new norm in October now.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 10/22/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @ChrisWasselDFS. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Sidney Crosby - C, PIT vs PHI (FD - $8,300, DK - $7,000)

Crosby versus Philadelphia is a point-a-game plus waiting to happen. Strange things happen when these two teams play each other that happen with a few other rivals. The center's price coming down on Tuesday night only enhances the play. Is there a little risk? Sure. However, line matching should somewhat help Crosby in this case. Philadelphia is stingy with shots but their goaltending has been questionable lately, whether it be Carter Hart or Brian Elliott.

David Pastrnak - W, BOS vs SJ  (FD - $9,100, DK - $8,300)

The winger keeps going and has another prime matchup versus the struggling San Jose Sharks. Pastrnak has 20+ FanDuel points in eight of his last ten games and 23 real-world points in the last nine contests. Considering his potential to hit the shot bonus as well and nearly five scoring chances a game versus San Jose, Pastrnak and Boston's top line has to have a place in lineups on Tuesday night. They will be highly owned at a chalk level considering Pastrnak's chalk price.

Also, Consider:

  • Sean Couturier, Connor McDavid, and even Mark Scheifele could be viable plays on Tuesday night.
  • Johnny Gaudreau, Nikita Kucherov, and Patrick Kane are also in plus-matchup situations on this large slate.

DFS Defenders to Consider

John Carlson - D, WSH vs TOR (FD - $7,100, DK - $7,000)

Carlson is this year's Morgan Rielly and faces Toronto on Tuesday night. He has 21 points in 13 games on the season. Carlson produced points in every game but two so far and is going up against a Toronto team that allows over three goals a game at home and 30+ shots with ease. The defenseman quarterbacks a power-play with Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin on it. It is little surprise why Carlson is still priced so high. Hint: he fills a lot of categories and has hit the shot and blocks bonus several times this year already.

Dougie Hamilton - D, CAR vs CGY (FD - $6,500, DK - $6,000)

Hamilton works great as a somewhat sneaky option some may forget about on Tuesday night. Remember, Carolina uses a balanced power-play structure so unit designation matters little. The Hurricanes' defenseman has 12 points in 11 games and keeps hitting shot and block bonuses much like Carlson -- just cheaper. Calgary is a team that likes to push the pace and yes, Hamilton once played for Calgary as well. There is little motivation needed here or love lost for that matter. Expect several scoring chances and opportunities as Hamilton will fire the puck often.

Also, Consider:

  • Darnell Nurse and Ryan Ellis enjoy plus-matchups and are still reasonably priced.
  • Michal Kempny and Tony DeAngelo are solid, value plays (under $4,500) on Tuesday night. Also, do not sleep on Filip Hronek from Detroit.

DFS Goalie to Consider

Ben Bishop - G, DAL vs MIN (FD - $8,400, DK - $8,100)

The thought process was to look at Alexandar Georgiev and expect that save bonus to easily hit. However, Tampa Bay has been hit or miss lately -- especially on the road. Bishop finally has a very good matchup at home where he excels. Most Dallas and Minnesota games tend to be lower scoring with around 30 shots by each team. That helps the Bishop bottom line on a night where his price is solid. Minnesota does produce the sixth-most DFS points for opposing goalies and third highest on this slate.

Also, Consider:

  • The other good GPP choices on Tuesday night include Braden Holtby and Mike Smith. They carry a lot of risks but are lower-priced especially on FanDuel (both under $8,000).
