FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (11/4/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey

The Monday slate has the highest offensive potential when Ottawa visits the New York Rangers, as it is the only game coming in at a total of 6.5. We have Pittsburgh and Boston facing off in a battle of the leagues two stingiest defenses and two hottest offenses, which gives me concern that it may be difficult to decipher what exactly will happen in this matchup. For what it's worth, the teams have combined for six or more goals in ten of their last eleven matchups, but it will be the first time they play this season. We also have a hot Nashville offense going up against one of the league's worst teams in Detroit, and another battle of two of the league's stingiest defenses from a goals-against average standpoint with Arizona visiting Edmonton.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 11/4/19. The picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @Roto_Nate.

DFS Forwards to Consider

Ryan Strome - C, NYR vs OTT (FD - $5,200, DK - $5,100)

Strome has found a spot alongside Artemi Panarin on the Rangers' first line since an upper-body injury has sidelined Mika Zibanejad, contributing two goals and three assists over those three games. He also had two goals and two assists in the three games before the injury, making him one of the top offensive centers over the past two weeks. The sites haven't adjusted his salary as of yet and could be an interesting stack with Panarin, as the Rangers have the highest expected goals total on this slate according to Vegas.

Filip Forsberg - W, NSH vs DET  (FD - $7,400, DK - $7,300)

Forsberg has points in every game except one so far this season, and there's no reason why he won't add to that total tonight when he faces one of the league's worst teams in Detroit. The Red Wings are allowing 3.53 goals per game, and are one of the worst penalty-kill units in the league, having a succession rate of just 70.2%. Forsberg, his even-strength and powerplay linemate Matt Duchene, and their PP1 defenseman Roman Josi would be a solid stack in this matchup.

Also, Consider:

  • Craig Smith and Nick Bonino have been big contributors over the past five games for Nashville, teaming up on the third line and PP2 to combine for five goals and four assists over their last four games. While those numbers aren't exactly lighting it up, both players come in at low salaries and are a contrarian option if you would rather stack Boston or Pittsburgh's PP1.
  • Filip Chytil has goals in his first two games of the season and could be a solid value option at his price. (FD - $3,600, DK - $4,700)

DFS Defenders to Consider

Roman Josi - D, NSH vs DET (FD - $6,600, DK - $6,700)

Josi has been on fire to start the season, chipping in five goals and nine assists. He has seen his offensive role increase since P.K. Subban departed in the offseason, and has been a force on the first powerplay line. As mentioned earlier about the Red Wings defensive and PK woes, the Predators PP1 stack is one of the best plays of the night, and Josi will play a big part in their success.

Tony DeAngelo  - D, NYR vs OTT (FD - $4,600, DK - $4,700)

It turned out that Jacob Trouba wasn't the puck-moving defenseman that the Rangers thought he would be to this early point in the season, as he has already been relegated to PP2. He has been struggling as of late and has given way to DeAngelo to get his opportunities on a talented PP1. DeAngelo has made the most of the opportunity, going through a recent three-game stretch where he had three goals and three assists. He has been quiet for the past two games, but a game against the Senators should be just what the doctor ordered to get him back on track.

DFS Goalie to Consider

Darcy Kuemper - G, ARI vs EDM (FD - $8,400, DK - $7,300)

While it scares me to roster goalies against Connor McDavid and Leon Draisatl, the fact of the matter is that they are the only real threats in the Oilers lineup. This could be a let-down spot for the Oilers in their first game back home after a road trip, and an emotional overtime victory over the Penguins on Saturday afternoon. Kuemper has been outstanding to start the season, boasting a 1.66 GAA and .942 save percentage. I'm not sure what DraftKings was thinking here, but he is extreme value on that site.
