Saturday features a nine-game evening slate with a spotlight on games like Philadelphia and Toronto, Vegas and Washington, plus even Nashville and San Jose.
Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. There are several games at 6.5, as that has become the new norm in hockey now.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 11/9/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @ChrisWasselDFS. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider
Nathan MacKinnon - C, COL vs CLS (FD - $8,600, DK - $8,000)
MacKinnon goes up against Columbus on Saturday night after the center unleashed a four-point night with ten shots on goal. It was like one could see that outburst coming. The good news is that MacKinnon is healthy. He did get a little banged up during the third period during the Nashville game. The center is leading them and Colorado's best player period and with all the injuries, having the pivot gives Colorado and DFS players a chance.
Alex Ovechkin - W, WSH vs FLA (FD - $9,000, DK - $8,200)
The winger did what he usually does against Florida and produced a two-goal, one assist performance along with eight shots on net and six scoring chances. Vegas will bring back some memories for Ovechkin and the rest of the Capitals but this will be quite a battle. Expect the left-winger to still get his chances and maybe a few extra on the power play as well. The Vegas second line and the Capitals top line will be featured in a good number of lineups.
Also, Consider:
- Sean Monahan, John Tavares, and even Jean-Gabriel Pageau/Nick Bonino could be viable plays on Saturday night.
- Sebastian Aho, Matthew Tkachuk, and both Patrick and Evander Kane are also in plus-matchup situations on this large slate.
DFS Defenders to Consider
Michal Kempny - D, WSH vs FLA (FD - $3,900, DK - $5,200)
We are hitting the FanDuel value play one more time because FanDuel wants to keep Kempny's price steady under $4,000. If the gift is there for the taking then why not go for it. This allows DFS players to spend up in other places on Saturday night. Kempny has exceeded the value in his last three outings. As long as he gets the minutes playing the defensive straight man with John Carlson, then the defender will get some chances to shine offensively as well.
Radim Simek - D, SJS vs NSH (FD - $3,500, DK - $3,000)
Simek has hit the blocked shots bonus in both games since returning from a knee injury. He had a goal and four shots against Minnesota and is seeing about 20 minutes of ice time a night. At even strength, he is being paired with Brent Burns to provide some defensive stability. That stability has a nice fringe positive effect of more offense for Simek. Considering the defender is minimum priced, Simek is worth a punt play in every and any format on Saturday night.
Also, Consider:
- Jeff Petry and Cale Makar enjoy plus-matchups and are very reasonably priced due to value to dollar potential.
- Dougie Hamilton and Roman Josi/Ryan Ellis are great bets on Saturday night against porous defenses in Ottawa and San Jose.
DFS Goalie to Consider
Darcy Kuemper - G, ARZ vs MIN (FD - $8,400, DK - $8,200)
The idea was to pick on Minnesota and hope that Arizona's bend but not break defense works just as it should. Kuemper has been excellent in his last ten starts -- going 7-3 with a goals-against-average under 2 and a save percentage approaching .940. He is facing 29 shots a game in this stretch so there is little chance of a save bonus. However, Kuemper has one of the highest chances of seeing a win on Saturday night.
Also, Consider:
- The other good GPP choices on Saturday night include David Rittich and Carey Price. They carry a lot of risks but have some potential for points.
