Tuesday features a medium eight-game main slate with Boston in Philadelphia, Tampa Bay in Toronto, and a gong show clash between Nashville and Montreal.
Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. There are several games at 6.5, as that has become the new norm in hockey now.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 3/10/20. Sidney Crosby - C, PIT vs OTT (FD - $8,500, DK - $7,800)
Crosby is a reasonable pick here and his DraftKings price is still solid even versus a New Jersey that rivals Detroit when it comes to defensive metrics. If not for MacKenzie Blackwood and Cory Schneider, New Jersey would be plummeting down the standings. The center has not played New Jersey yet this year but has 20 points over his last 14 games against them in Newark.
Nikita Kucherov - W, TAM vs TOR (FD - $8,300, DK - $8,300)
The forward gets shots on net of late with 14 shots in his previous three games. He has points in each of them. That includes ten scoring chances. Kucherov loves playing Toronto as he has five points in two matchups with six shots on goal and five scoring chances. That even includes a power-play goal against a Toronto team that has only killed 75% of its penalties at home since January 1st.
Also, Consider:
- Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin have to be looked at as the Rangers' power-play can strike quickly -- even in Dallas on Tuesday night.
- Danton Heinen is a nice value-play from the Anaheim Ducks on the wing against the Ottawa Senators.
DFS Defenders to Consider
Ivan Provorov - D, PHI vs BOS (FD - $4,500, DK - $5,700)
Provorov is a great cash or GPP play on Tuesday especially given his FanDuel price. Even his DraftKings price is not terrible given his production lately. He has eight points in his last nine games on decent shot and block volume. His overall floor is right around 3.5 shots and blocks per game. This is not the level of a Ryan Pulock for example but the Flyers' defenseman has 21 home points in 34 games and eight goals (four power-play tallies). Boston is again short-handed with two of their top defensemen missing which sets up well for Provorov and Philadelphia.
Ryan Pulock - D, MON vs NYI (FD - $5,200, DK - $5,500)
Pulock carries a huge floor and that booming shot on the man advantage. Vancouver struggles defensively and even on the penalty kill (77% since February 1st) and has allowed 18 goals in their last five games including six while short-handed. For emphasis, Pulock has 4+ shots on goal in his last several games and is averaging 3.1 blocks per contest over the last 15 games. He has been so much better than his defensive teammates during this six-game losing streak.
- Simply if Ben Chiarot will keep being priced where he is, then one almost has to play him given his ice time.
- Dakota Mermis and Matt Irwin are cheaper options as well on defense if one does not want to spend up on Tuesday.
DFS Goalie to Consider
Carter Hart - G, PHI vs BOS (FD - $8,700, DK - $7,800)
The goalie gets the start against Boston on Tuesday and has won nine of his last ten starts. One drawback is that Philadelphia typically allows less than 29 shots per 60 but Hart stopped 38 of 39 shots at home versus Buffalo over the weekend. Overall, the goalie is 20-2-2 at home with a 1.61 goals-against average and .944 save percentage. That includes his only shutout of the season as well. Hart has won both decisions against the Bruins this year though the home game was lower scoring.
- The other good GPP choice on Tuesday night may be MacKenzie Blackwood provided he starts. If he does not, take a look at Anthony Stolarz who will be dirt cheap ($7,000/$7,500) against the Senators.
