We have a 7-game slate tonight where there are several teams in action who are in the playoff hunt, so no rest for them as the season comes to an end. You should be looking at teams in higher over-under games, due to the potential for plenty of scoring.
Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually, 6 goals are average, so target games at 6.5 or higher, and can look for goalies in games with a total at 5.5 or lower.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 3/11/19. DFS Forwards to Consider
Leon Draisaitl - C, EDM vs NYR (FD - $8,300, DK - $7,100)
Draisaitl's price jumped up on Monday and yet you should consider him for tournaments tonight since he brings solid point potential. He is facing off against the New York Rangers, who are allowing nearly 37 shots per 60 minutes since January 1, which is the second most in that time frame. Also, New York allows 3.84 goals per game away from home. This should put the Oilers in a spot to score plenty of goals. The 5.5 over/under may be more because of the low expected Rangers goal total. Draisaitl plays over 22 minutes a night lately, gets top unit power-play time, and is double shifted a ton. Zack Kassian or Alex Chiasson can be complementary plays from Edmonton to lower price per player.
Patrick Kane - W, CHI vs ARZ (FD - $9,100, DK - $7,900)
Kane becomes almost a lock on this slate because they are playing at home. First off, he has 18 power-play points at home and is averaging nearly six shots a game over his past ten contests. Getting exposure to Chicago who plays at a frenetic pace at home is a smart idea. Kane shoots even more at home and may attempt anywhere from 10-15 shots on net on Monday night. Chicago's power play executes at nearly 25% at home since January 1. The Coyotes often get themselves in trouble against teams who can change pace and transition quickly. Few teams are better at that than the Chicago Blackhawks. Kane finds targets at a rapid rate and Alex DeBrincat could score a goal or two. Even Dylan Strome and Jonathan Toews become viable options on Monday.
DFS Defenders to Consider
Ryan Pulock - D, NYI vs CLB (FD - $4,300, DK - $4600)
Pulock is still TOO CHEAP across the industry tonight and has exceeded the value in two straight contests, which should almost certainly continue tonight given how Columbus is playing nervous right now. He is facing off against a Columbus team that will try to get shots to the net. This provides a great opportunity for Pulock and the Islanders to outperform salary since he is so cheap and has a very advantageous matchup you should be looking to attack. The biggest reason to attack is Pulock's ability to block shots lately. He has six blocks in his previous two games alone. Again, that FanDuel price is especially low. Other options that should be considered include Erik Gustafson, Travis Sanheim, and Nick Leddy especially as a value play (three-game point streak).
Jake Muzzin - D, TOR vs TB (FD - $4,900, DK - $5,000)
Muzzin is a good mid-priced option at defense today and will likely stay on the second defensive pairing for the Maple Leafs. The good thing is that Muzzin does not get tired (plays a maximum of 22 minutes). He only plays on the second unit of the power play, however. Muzzin comes in with points in three of his last four games while carrying a floor that is solid. We should see plenty of offense here and if you are looking to do a game stack, you will need some savings at some point. Toronto and Tampa Bay's over-under has teetered close to 7 all day. Both teams are in the upper tier when it comes to allowing high-danger chances. Again, the defenseman provides some price relief on all platforms. This allows one to spend up in other positions. Looking toward a Philadelphia and Ottawa game stack, for example, would not cost a lot and Muzzin would not impact that decision.
DFS Goalies to Consider
Mikko Koskinen - G, EDM vs NYR (FD - $7,800, DK - $7,600)
Koskinen was on a nice run of four straight wins then came down with the flu last minute on Saturday night. The best advice here is to watch just to make sure he starts on Monday against the New York Rangers. His price is still reasonable because of the hesitation as far as his health. The Edmonton goalie faced 30+ shots in each start while allowing just seven goals and posting one shutout. This game should be moderate to high-event as both teams allow a lot of shots. The question is will the goaltenders be up to the challenge. If Koskinen does not play for whatever reason, rolling the dice on Anthony Stolarz is not a terrible idea. Also, he is only $7,200 on FanDuel and $7,400 on DraftKings. Every matchup has a potential trap in net so keep that in mind. Goaltending is higher risk than usual on Monday night.
