FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (3/3/20): Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Tuesday features another a large ten-game main slate with Toronto in San Jose,  St. Louis in New York, and a gong show clash between Nashville and Minnesota.

Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. There are several games at 6.5, as that has become the new norm in hockey now.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 3/3/20. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @ChrisWasselDFS. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Sidney Crosby - C, PIT vs OTT (FD - $8,300, DK - $7,200)

Crosby is a reasonable pick here and his DraftKings price especially is quite cheap given his history against Ottawa. This is a player who averages nearly 1.5 points per game at home against Ottawa in his career. His home numbers this year include eight goals and 30 points in 18 contests. Also, 12 of his 15 power-play points come at home as well. This is a case where a home-stacking is very much warranted. There are several options including Jason Zucker, Conor Sheary, and even Kris Letang.

Leon Draisaitl - C/W, EDM vs DAL (FD - $8,500, DK - $7,900)

The forward gets shots on net to the tune of nearly four shots per contest and comes off a four-goal, five-point outburst in Nashville last night. Edmonton just plays at a pace on the road better than they do at home. It is just too hard not to roster him at this juncture. Some will argue Max Pacioretty here but Draisaitl is on such a roll that why not keep playing him. Expect several quality chances BUT do look to see who matches up against the second Edmonton line -- they will have chances too.

Also, Consider:

  • Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin have to be looked at as the Rangers' power-play can strike quickly -- three goals on Sunday against Philadelphia.
  • Logan Couture could be a nice play again along with San Jose's power-play unit against a Toronto penalty kill that is struggling mightily.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Shea Theodore - D, VGK vs NJ (FD - $5,900, DK - $6,200)

This is a solid option on Tuesday night with some high-priced players in not so good situations. Opportunities should be plenty as New Jersey generates a little more shot volume away from home typically. That means more blocked shots but also New Jersey gives up among the most scoring chances and unblocked shot attempts in the league. Theodore will have plenty of opportunities to add to his point total. Theodore has 37 shots on net with nearly 70 attempts over his last ten games. Also, he has seven points in his previous nine games. This game will be high-event much like Toronto and San Jose.

Ryan Pulock - D, MON vs NYI (FD - $4,900, DK - $5,300)

Pulock carries a huge floor and that booming shot on the man advantage. Montreal is a wreck on the road when it comes to killing penalties (just over 76%) and is porous down the middle defensively. That should be something Pulock can exploit. The Canadiens are a team where scoring can be had and Pulock can be stacked even with known Montreal Canadiens killer -- Jean-Gabriel Pageau.

  • Simply if Ben Chiarot will keep being priced where he is, then one almost has to play him given his ice time.
  • Connor Murphy and Mathew Dumba are cheaper options as well on defense if one does not want to spend up on Tuesday.

DFS Goalie to Consider

Robin Lehner - G, VGK vs NJ  (FD - $8,100, DK - $8,400)

The goalie gets the start against a New Jersey team that struggles to score goals on the road (2.39 per game). Lehner did face 36 shots on net in his first Vegas start against the Buffalo Sabres but he did face fewer high-danger chances. That is the important thing. The volume is good. Volume from point-blank range is not so good.

  • The other good GPP choice on Tuesday night may be Fredrik Andersen. It is risky with Toronto in San Jose but chances he faces 35+ shots are at least moderate.
