We have an 11-game slate tonight where there are many teams in action who are in the playoff hunt, so no rest for them as the season comes to an end. You should be looking at teams in higher over-under games, due to the potential for plenty of scoring.
Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually, 5.5 goals are average, so targets game at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 3/7/19. DFS Forwards to Consider
Artemi Panarin - W, CLS @ PIT (FD - $7,700, DK - $6,500)
Panarin has six points in his last six games and seems a bit too cheap on DraftKings tonight, so you should be looking to roster him over there. The Blue Jackets are in a spot where they NEED to be winning games since they have made so many moves at the deadline, but have fallen out of a playoff spot. Tonight, they are up against the Penguins, who are only two points ahead of them, and we have an over-under set at 6.5 goals in this one, so we are in for plenty of scoring. Panarin is on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, which should give him plenty of opportunities to reach value tonight.
Dylan Strome - C, CHI vs BUF (FD - $6,000, DK - $5,400)
Strome comes in with four points and 11 shots in his last five games and is looking to be a great stacking option for GPP tonight. The Blackhawks are up against the Sabres in a game where the over-under is set at SEVEN. This is very high for the NHL and with had both defenses are, we could be looking at an absolute barn burner with scoring going back and forth. Love this spot for a game stack and with Strome up on the first power-play unit, he gets you cheap exposure to Patrick Kane on the first power-play, who always brings multi-point upside.
DFS Defenders to Consider
Brent Burns - D, SJ vs MON (FD - $7,400, DK - $6,800)
Burns is dealing with a slight illness and is listed as a game-time decision but this same situation happened the other night and played. We should see the exact same thing happen tonight and you don't want to be passing on Burns if there is a potential for lower ownership if other DFS players are worried about him playing. He is on the first power-play unit and comes in with four points, 14 shots, and one blocked shot in his last five games, which should put him in cash game consideration tonight.
Ryan McDonagh - D, TB vs MIN (FD - $4,400, DK - $4,500)
McDonagh could be used in cash games tonight and comes at a very reasonable price tag which brings plenty of salary relief, something that is always needed on a full slate of games. He has 11 shots and a whopping 12 blocked shots in his last five games, which is where the safe floor of points comes from. He isn't on a power-play, but this is Tampa Bay, they are at home, and they come in -240 favorites. The scoring should be there for them and if Mac grabs a point, it's all extra on top of his normal production.
DFS Goalies to Consider
Semyon Varlamov - G, COL @ DAL (FD - $7,700, DK - $7,800)
How much risk do you want when it comes to your goalie tonight? That's always a great question to ask if you are looking to play some tournaments and hopefully, that can lead to a bit of lower ownership, something that is always beneficial. Varlamov and the Avalanche are on the road but only +110 underdogs, so nearly a coin clip game here, which means he can come away with the win. He is up against the Stars, who are one of the lowest scoring teams in the league over the past month and with Varlamov winning five of his last seven starts, he has the potential to grab a road win.
