We have a solid four-game postseason ledger on tap Friday, and FanDuel is offering all of the contests on a main slate that gets started at 2:07pm ET. Postseason MLB DFS is always interesting, as there are usually not too many vulnerable arms, if any, to pick on in any given day.
However, even the best pitchers have some weakness, and naturally, the caliber of bats that are often found on playoff teams are those that can frequently overcome even very difficult matchups. As such, we still have a solid array of bats to choose from across the salary scale for Friday's games.
I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel main slate on 10/8/2021. FanDuel DFS Pitchers
Cash Game/GPP Anchor Play:
Logan Webb– vs. LAD ($8,800)
Webb produced a 6-0 record, 1.96 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 10.6 K/9 and 0.5 HR/9 at home this season while allowing just a .213 average and .248 wOBA there as well. He also posted a 1-0 mark and 2.25 ERA against the Dodgers in three starts versus L.A., and the Dodgers wrapped up the regular season with an MLB-low .201/.275/.321 slash line, .264 wOBA and -18.1 wRAA against right-handed pitching on the road over the final month.
Potential Alternate Play:
Corbin Burnes– vs. ATL ($10,400)
Burnes put together a stellar season that saw him average 43.1 FD points per start, and he posted a .220 BAA and .251 wOBA across 88.1 home innings. The Braves do boast a talented lineup that’s gotten to Burnes for four home runs in 41 career encounters, but the right-hander also brings elite swing-and-miss stuff that’s exemplified by his K/9s north of 12.0 against either handedness of hitter and at home. Burnes finished the season strong as well, posting three FD-point tallies north of 50 in his last five full starts, including 76 FD points against Cleveland on Sept. 11.

FanDuel DFS Infielders
Jose Abreu - 1B, at HOU ($3,800)
Abreu was lethal against left-handers all season and particularly on the road, where he posted a .347 average, 1.059 OPS and .440 wOBA against that handedness. Astros southpaw Framber Valdez was generally very effective at home this season, but nine of the 12 home runs he allowed on the campaign came off righty bats. Abreu also happens to have an excellent career track record against Valdez’s most often thrown pitch, the sinker, posting a .317 average and .377 wOBA in his career against that offering.
Jose Altuve – 2B, vs. CWS ($4,000)
Altue’s bounce-back season saw him belt 31 homers and drive in 83 runs on his way to averaging a hefty 12.3 FD points per game. He’s had a good history against White Sox starter Lucas Giolito as well, producing a .300 average against him with a pair of homers in 12 career encounters. Altuve also posted a .390 wOBA and .932 OPS at home, and he was even better against righties there with .404 and .977 figures, respectively. Giolito surrendered 18 of the 27 homers he gave up this season to right-handed hitters, leading to a 1.7 HR/9 against that handedness.
Luis Urias – 3B, vs. ATL ($2,700)
Urias makes for an appealing value play at his salary, considering he slugged 16 of his 23 homers on the season off right-handed pitching and is facing a righty in Charlie Morton on Friday. Urias belted 11 round trippers in his home park overall, and he was hot in the second half with a .365 wOBA, .850 OPS, .367 OPB and a welcome reduction in strikeout rate from 23.0 percent to 16.7 percent. The power-hitting infielder averaged 9.5 FD points per game overall, and he wrapped up the regular season with three double-digit fantasy-point tallies in his last four contests.
Wander Franco – SS, vs. BOS ($3,400)
Franco is a legitimate phenom that wasted no time this season establishing the fact he’ll be a dominant force for years to come. The rookie laced a pair of doubles in his first career playoff game Thursday, and he makes for a strong play again Friday despite the matchup against Chris Sale to open the game. Franco pounded left-handers for a .357 average, 14 XBH and a .429 wOBA during the regular season, numbers that were partly constituted by the triple and homer he laced off Sale on his way to a .667 average in his first six encounters with the southpaw. For his part, Sale had a very rough time against righty bats on the road, allowing a .318 average and .396 wOBA to the 52 hitters he faced in that split.
FanDuel DFS Outfielders
Michael Brantley - vs. CWS ($2,400)
Brantley comes with a surprisingly low salary and arrives at Friday’s matchup with Giolito fresh off a two-hit, two-RBI day in Game 1 of the ALDS on Thursday. Brantley posted a .363 average, .924 OPS and .399 wOBA against right-handed pitching overall during the regular season, and he’s also tagged Giolito for a .500 average with a double, two homers and no strikeouts in 12 career encounters.
Randy Arozarena – vs. BOS ($3,700)
Sale’s struggles against right-handed hitters on the road this season were already detailed earlier, while Arozarena already began showing hints that the lethal October version of himself is ready to wreak havoc again this fall when he slugged a homer and also stole home in Game 1 of the ALDS on Thursday night. The ultra-talented outfielder also thrived against left-handed pitching at Tropicana Field this season, furnishing a .371 average, .474 wOBA and 1.151 OPS in that split while striking out just 17.9 percent of the time.
Mike Yastrzemski – vs. LAD ($3,100)
Yastrzemski belted a career-high 25 homers this season, with 23 of those coming off right-handed pitching. He also posted a .361 wOBA, .847 OPS and 129 wRC+ versus righties at home, and he’s enjoyed success against Dodgers starter Walker Buehler in the past to the tune of a .300 average with a double, triple and only four strikeouts in 23 career encounters. Part of that is attributed to Yastrzemski being an excellent hitter against Buehler’s most often thrown pitch, the four-seam fastball, an offering the slugger owns a .617 slugging percentage, .405 wOBA and 161 wRC+ against this season.
