As we enter the halfway point of what has been a chaotic and unpredictable 2020 campaign, Week 8 kicked off with a matchup between the Carolina Panthers losing to the Atlanta Falcons. With things quiet as it relates to COVID-19, at least than in previous weeks, we can navigate through DFS contests with a little more clarity, making lineup construction a bit easier and less complicated.
Of course, we still have injuries to monitor as we head into the weekend as some big names are in danger of not suiting up. As always, keep an eye on things as opening kick nears closer and be mindful about plugging in value plays that may be popular roster additions. DFS managers, primarily in GPP contests, can usually gain an edge, especially by avoiding certain players in the right situations.
In this article, I will be providing you with my Week 8 daily fantasy football lineup picks on FanDuel. These lineups can vary from higher-priced players and elite options to lower-priced players and value picks on FanDuel. FanDuel Quarterbacks - Week 8 Picks
Russell Wilson, QB - vs. SF ($8,700)
In Week 7, the DFS community witnessed two rookies, Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow, run rampant by combining for just over 73 fantasy points. While those two have the capability of having repeat performances moving ahead, the likelihood of a spectacular performance from Burrow in Week 8 is very low against a Tennessee team that will be looking to bounce back from a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. On the other hand, Herbert will have the misfortune of heading up the mountain to Denver, which is never an easy task, regardless of how well the Broncos are playing.
Luckily, Wilson, a favorite to win the 2020 MVP award, is available at a reasonable rostering cost. Even though he threw three interceptions against the Cardinals last weekend, he still managed to finish with 32.92 fantasy points, thanks to his nearly 400-yard, three-touchdown passing performance. Oh, and the 84 yards he had on the ground wasn't too shabby either. With San Francisco having issues on the defensive end due to a plethora of injuries faced throughout the first seven weeks, Wilson could be in store for one of his most convincing performances of the season.
Ryan Tannehill, QB - @ CIN ($7,500)
Joe Burrow continues to lead the league in passing attempts, and though Cincinnati can get up-and-down the field swiftly week-by-week, it may open the door for opposing offenses to have plenty of chances to rack up a suitable amount of fantasy points. With the team also trading Carlos Dunlap to Seattle, the Bengals Defense should continue on a downward spiral, which could make Tannehill's job a bit easier on Sunday.
As the Titans look to bounce back from the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee should be fired up and ready to steamroll a team that is obviously in its rebuilding phase. Though Derrick Henry may get some extra touches, primarily if the team builds a big lead and runs out the clock, the former Dolphins' signal-caller may be able to do enough to be one of Week 8's top options at the position.
FanDuel Running Backs - Week 8 Picks
Kareem Hunt, RB - vs. LV ($8,200)
Nick Chubb has been out of commission with a knee injury, which has ultimately opened the door for Hunt to get in some extra reps. Although he has been battling an injury of his own, he should have the green light to participate in the showdown against the Raiders.
Las Vegas has stood firm against the rushing attack all season long. However, the team has had issues stopping opposing backs from sliding out of the backfield and catching passes. Hunt, who has made a name for himself in that area, should have plenty of chances to pick up some significant gains through the air in Week 8 as the Browns featured back.
Giovani Bernard, RB - vs. TEN ($5,900)
Although the Titans Defense has held its own through the year against all positions, Bernard is an interesting option in Week 8. Joe Mixon, who is currently battling a foot injury, has been considered week-to-week, and after not practicing over the last few days, it is highly unlikely that he will suit up on Sunday.
Bernard, who has been one of the most effective fill-ins at the position over the years, could likely be tasked with extra responsibilities against Tennessee. He didn't do much on the ground in Week 7 against the Browns but made up for it by catching all five of his targets for 59 yards and a touchdown. With Joe Burrow throwing often, the veteran may be able to capitalize enough from a value standpoint by assuming a James White-Esque role out of the backfield, despite the relatively rough matchup.
FanDuel Wide Receivers - Week 8 Picks
Davante Adams, WR - vs. MIN ($9,100)
It is not a secret that most, if not all, of the winning lineups in Week 7 featured Adams, primarily after his dominant performance against struggling Houston Texans.
With the veteran seemingly healthy once again, he could make some big waves once again in a game that may have the highest combined score of Week 8. Although his rostering cost is up there, there should be plenty of value options to offset the hefty price tag.
A.J. Brown, WR - @ CIN ($7,500)
Brown spent most of the year on the injured list with a knee issue. However, he has been a welcome addition to a Titans offense that doesn’t have many options outside of Derrick Henry.
Throughout his previous two contests, the 23-year-old has compiled 11 catches (15 targets) for 211 yards and three scores. With the matchup against the Bengals also potentially being one of the highest-scoring games on the slate, Brown should benefit from a DFS standpoint against a shoddy Cincinnati defense.
Tyler Lockett, WR - vs. SF ($7,200)
After catching 15 of his 20 targets for 200 yards and three touchdowns, Lockett's price tag isn't nearly as high as it should be. While D.K. Metcalf is always a threat to gobble up some looks from Russell Wilson; he will have the luxury of facing off with a 49ers team with some glaring holes on the defensive side of the ball.
FanDuel Tight Ends - Week 8 Picks
George Kittle, TE @ SEA ($7,700)
The tight end position has been hit-or-miss all year long. Nonetheless, Kittle is the exception as he continues to produce consistently. He has been targeted 30 times over his previous four contests and should flourish against the Seahawks, especially with the 49ers banged up and having limited options on both sides of the ball.
