Week 2 NFL DFS Cheat Sheet: Expert Picks and Lineups (Premium Content)

All other Premium Tools can be accessed on the premium dashboard.

Welcome to Week 2 of the NFL Season! Each week, I'll be bringing you our famous NFL DFS Cheat Sheet with expert research and picks for cash games and GPPs. Here are a few notes about the sheet.

  • For Week 2, I will be using some data from 2022 and some from 2021. Mainly the DVOA data is what is still from last season as we need a few weeks for that to even out!
  • The "fantasy points allowed rank" reflects how a player's opponent ranked in fantasy points allowed to their specific position. The lower the number, the better the matchup.
  • DVOA is a stat created by Football Outsiders that stands for Defense-adjusted Value Over Average and takes into account the quality of the previous offensive opponents. This rating is being shown for both the offensive player's team and their opponent.
  • A play labeled "cash" is a higher-owned play that is recommended for cash games. A "strong" play is playable in all formats. "Slate-breakers" are some of my favorite GPP targets for upside or reduced ownership.
  • Vegas and risk columns will all be updated during the week to reflect injury info, weather info, and the most recent Vegas info.

Premium NFL DFS Cheat Sheet - Week 2

Cash Game Cores

DraftKings: Barkley-Henderson-Adams

FanDuel: Barkley-Henderson-Adams

Some weeks it's going to be different on each site, but I really can't get away from these three core plays this week. They project to be the three-highest owned players on the slate, so locking them into cash games makes sense, and figuring out the rest of your build after that is where you will separate yourself from the pack. All three guys feel like "good chalk" this week to me.

Deeper GPP Flyers

This is where I want to give you some other players who will be in my player pool, who didn't make the cut for the cheat sheet. The main recommended plays are always going to be geared more towards cash games and single-entry tournaments, but here are some lower-owned options for large-field tournaments.

QB: Trey Lance, Jared Goff, Daniel Jones

Lance is here again, but I will admit I had no exposure last week with the weather and my doubts about his NFL readiness. He could scramble and run for two TDs any given week, however, and the Niners should score some points this week. Goff looked pretty solid last week and this Lions' offense is improved. Stacking him with St. Brown and Swift in a game that could shoot out makes a nice little condensed QB-RB-WR play. Daniel Jones might suck, but he played okay last week and we know he has some running ability of his own - and he's dirt cheap.

RB: Joe Mixon, Josh Jacobs, Chase Edmonds

Mixon was a core play last week and didn't find the end zone, but had a ton of usage. Dallas got run over by Lenny Fournette last week, it's certainly possible Mixon has a big day this week so I will get some shares. I am bigger on the Vegas pass offense this week, but Jacobs is still their main back and has some GPP appeal at his price. Edmonds led the team in snap share last week, and we can expect him to get a big chunk of targets here if Miami is forced to throw on Baltimore, who will likely be able to shut down the interior run game (fade Mostert).

WR: Elijah Moore, Christian Kirk, Allen Robinson, Jahan Dotson, Greg Dortch

Kirk did me well last week and there's no reason to think he doesn't continue to be the most targeted guy, it's just a tougher match-up this week. He deserves consideration in tournaments, especially if you are stacking Colts. A-Rob let everyone down last week and I am still a bit skeptical about him in L.A., but this is too good of a spot to all-out fade and he's still cheap due to the Week one dud. Moore is the top option in the passing game for the Jets and they should be forced into a ton of passes again this week against Cleveland. Dotson smashed last week, but it could have been a tad fluky, too, since he had two touchdowns on only a handful of targets. Still, he's good and he's cheap and I want a lot of pieces of that game.

TE: Mark Andrews, Logan Thomas

I'm drawing a line in the sand and fading Kyle Pitts until we see him do something to justify the hype machine. Andrews is playable every week and may end up being leaned on more than last week with Miami's corners being tough matchups for the receivers outside. Thomas is yet another Washington guy who is cheap and if his snap shares increase, he could end up with a bunch more routes run and targets.

DEF: PIT, DAL, MIA

The Bengals D is CHALK, like big, big, chalk due to their price and the Cowboys playing their backup. So we should be able to get any other defense we want relatively low-owned. Miami had a great week one and Baltimore's offense is mediocre at best. Dallas held the Bucs to a bunch of field goals and we saw Burrow turn it over a ton. The Steelers were turnover-making machines and now get a NE offense that kinda stinks and might not have their starting QB.

Week 1 DFS Slate Notes

***Injury Updates***

Questionable, but expected to play - SWIFT, DOBBINS, FOURNETTE, INGRAM

Questionable, but definitely could still miss - KAMARA, BOLDEN

OUT - Rondale Moore

***Saturday Updates***

Rondale Moore is out AND now Andy Isabella, too. That might move Greg Dortch up into the top punt spot as your WR3 in cash games. I originally wanted Dotson or Curtis Samuel, but Dortch saves you even more money and pricing is a bit tighter this week than in week one.

I am still very much ALL IN on the Carr-Adams duo, both in cash and GPPs. If Carr makes you nervous, then I think Carson Wentz is suitable in cash games, too. Even if Wentz makes you nervous (as he should), I think the volume will be there in this game whether Washington is leading or trailing, they are going to throw the ball if week one was any indication.

We are seeing ownership really consolidate around Barkley and Henderson at the RB position, and I absolutely want to eat that chalk in cash. But there are a lot of great RB pivots and there might not be a better one than Nick Chubb this week. If he goes 100+ again this week in an even better matchup AND gets in the end zone, he's going to post a top 3 score at the position and I really love him on FanDuel where he can outperform some of these PPR backs who make their points up with swing passes.

You have to get some Rams exposure this week, and if you're rolling Hendo in cash, then it could make sense to go with Stafford-Kupp-Higbee in a tourney. Or roll out A-Rob if you really think he busts out, I am not convinced that happens.

Jared Goff is going to be 3-5% owned in tournaments, despite the fact that he played well in week one and I think a Goff-Swift-St. Brown stack gets you a huge chunk of their potential scoring output. You just have to hope they don't slam Jamaal Williams in twice again.

Joe Mixon looks like he's going under-owned this week, with 7-8 backs projecting to be more highly owned. That just seems wrong, considering his guaranteed touches and a potentially positive game script for him against Dallas who got hammered by Lenny last week.

I could keep going and just typing thoughts out about the slate, but I have documented my stances pretty well at this point I think. I do think the chalk is pretty strong this week, but never be afraid to be different in GPPs, especially in the larger field stuff. And if you're playing chalk pieces, then at least differentiate your lineups with some other non-chalk to leverage yourself a bit.
