Even though the season feels like it just began, we are nearly halfway through the 2021-22 campaign. Week 8 started with Thursday Night Football, featuring Aaron Rodgers and the Packers heading to the desert for a meeting with Kyler Murray and the Cardinals. Unfortunately for the reigning MVP, his favorite target, Davante Adams, wasn't in the lineup because of the league's health and safety protocols surrounding COVID-19. Even worse, Allen Lazard was also ruled out, leaving Rodgers with limited options against undefeated Arizona.
Moving toward Sunday's Halloween slate, some scary injury situations will surely terrify fantasy managers. Of course, Christian McCaffrey will remain on the injury report against the Falcons, which will mean more work for Chuba Hubbard, who produced a ghastly 7.6 fantasy points against the New York Giants.
In this article, I will be providing you with my Week 8 daily fantasy football lineup picks for FanDuel’s “Main Slate.” These lineups can vary from higher-priced players and elite options to lower-priced players and value picks on FanDuel. FanDuel Quarterbacks - Week 8 DFS Lineup Picks
Josh Allen, QB - vs. MIA ($8,800)
After a frightening loss to Tennessee in Week 6, the Bills had a bye in Week 7. With some much-needed time off, Allen will look to get his team back on track against Miami. The MVP candidate didn't play well against the Dolphins to begin the year, finishing with a little over 17 fantasy points during the rival's first meeting.
However, he has played much better against the Fins on his home turf by posting 10 total touchdowns with only two picks during his career. While nothing is guaranteed, Allen has a fantastic chance to end Week 8 as one of the top signal-callers, and with so many injuries, there will be more than enough value opportunities to afford his hefty rostering cost.
Jalen Hurts, QB - @ DET ($8,400)
Hurts is only $400 less than Josh Allen in Week 8, so for those who feel like taking a chance, this may be the place to do it.
The 23-year-old has flown under the fantasy radar during the 2021-22 campaign despite terrorizing opposing defenses. The second-year signal-caller hasn't scored less than 21.8 fantasy points, and although he can get a little careless throwing the ball, his ability to find the end zone on the ground has more than made up for it. The Lions have a grisly seven losses and have yet to win a game, so rolling with Hurts should be a no-brained.
FanDuel Running Backs - Week 8 DFS Lineup Picks
Jonathan Taylor, RB - vs. TEN ($8,500)
Taylor struggled throughout the first three weeks of the year but has since been firing on all cylinders. The sophomore has accrued five total touchdowns throughout the previous four games and has surpassed 100 yards on the ground in three of them.
The Colts' offense has been banged up lately as well. T.Y. Hilton is questionable heading into Sunday's showdown against a gruesome Titans run defense. Parris Campbell will also be sidelined for up to three months because of foot surgery and is in danger of missing the remainder of the season. Nevertheless, if Indianapolis hopes to remain in the playoff conversation, Taylor will have to get involved. The matchup is tough, but he should get plenty of chances to breakthrough on Sunday.
Joe Mixon, RB - @ NYJ ($7,600)
Despite Mixon's effectiveness throughout the year, he still is priced well below others on the slate. He was plagued by an ankle injury a few weeks ago, and his workload was limited as a result. Still, the former Sooner continues to find the end zone, and he is doing so often enough to remain classified as a viable fantasy option from week to week.
Sure, Mixon's volume has regressed since sustaining the ailment, although he still ranks second in the league behind only Derrick Henry. We know how frustrating he can be, as he has disappointed many fantasy managers over the years. Still, he draws a favorable matchup against the Jets on Sunday, so his ceiling is higher than usual.
FanDuel Wide Receivers - Week 8 DFS Lineup Picks
Ja'Marr Chase, WR - @ NYJ ($8,200)
Chase has been generating some terrifying fantasy outings throughout the year. The former LSU Tiger is completely in sync with his former collegiate and current Bengals' teammate, Joe Burrow, and he has the stats to show for it. He has at least one touchdown in five of his first seven games as a professional and will be entering Week 8, coming off a ghastly eight-catch, 201-yard performance against the Ravens.
The rookie ranks first in the league with eight catches for 30-plus yards, which should translate well against a Jets defense that has allowed 29 catches for at least 20 yards. As a result, Chase could be in store for another hair-raising offensive showing.
Terry McLaurin, WR - @ DEN ($7,400)
McLaurin has had some gruesome showings throughout the year. Yet, the volume has been there for Scary Terry, who has at least 11 targets in four of his seven appearances in 21-22.
After McLaurin had amassed a bloodcurdling 4.8 fantasy points against Kansas City in Week 6, he turned things around to compile a frightening seven receptions for 122 yards and a score against the Packers last Sunday. The 26-year-old has been dealing with a hideous hamstring ailment. However, he practiced in full on Thursday and should be good to go against the Broncos.
FanDuel Tight Ends - Week 8 DFS Lineup Picks
C.J. Uzomah, TE - @ NYJ ($5,700)
The selection of available options at the tight end spot in Week 8 is absolutely frightening. Kyle Pitts leads the way, and although he's been playing better, he still has a long way to go before he can be trusted.
So for those looking at streaming options, Uzomah has just as high of an upside as everyone else, maybe even higher. Indeed, Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are the preferred targets for Joe Burrow. Yet, Uzomah has established himself as someone who shouldn't be dismissed. Though the 28-year-old doesn't catch a ton of balls, he does have five touchdowns over the last four games. Nonetheless, he has the potential for more in Week 8 against a wretched Jets defense.
