ANALYSIS: If the NFL does decide to punish LeGarrette Blount for his recent arrest, it likely will not be this season. Blount is still listed behind Le'Veon Bell on the depth chart, but it looks like he will be the Steelers' primary option in short yardage and goal line situations. Blount will not rack up the yards like other backs, but he is capable of posting 20-30 yards and 1-2 touchdowns on any given week.
He rushed for 772 yards and reached paydirt seven times in New England a season ago. Look for LaGarrette to have a similar showing in Pittsburgh this year, and for us to see more of the same. In yesterday's opening game, Blount was used as the goal-line back and scored a touchdown as well. Blount is a worthwhile FLEX option at running back, and a good depth player to keep on the bench for injuries and BYE weeks.
