ANALYSIS: Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Matt Harvey has found a new home in Cincinnati this season with mixed results. He has been a boom-or-bust streaming option this year and we’re hoping for more of the “boom” this week. Harvey has allowed two earned runs in four of the past six games, but also allowed five earned runs in the other two appearances. On the bright side, Harvey has punched out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.
This week, Harvey is a two start pitcher, facing the Pirates in Pittsburgh and the Padres at home in Cincinnati. The Padres are the matchup that we are specifically targeting, as the team is offensively weak. San Diego is 27th in runs scored (524 runs in 137 games) and second in team strikeouts (1,297) this season. The Padres are also 28th in team wOBA (.300) in 2018. Considering that he gets two turns this week, Harvey is a good addition in deeper formats.
