MLB Betting Picks for Thursday 7/8 - Thursday Totals!

Happy Thursday RotoBallers! John, aka 'LucidMedia," back with your MLB betting picks for this Wednesday, July 8th! We've had a tough week so far, starting 0-4, our first "losing week" since I've begun writing these articles. We look to get back at it today during today's slate of games, and I'm looking at a few games I see some nice value picks in to get us going into the weekend.

I will be doing these picks for you every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday going forward this baseball season. Just to let you know, I mainly bet on FanDuel Sportsbook, and that's where the odds below will be coming from. I know not everyone is able to bet on Fanduel, so if you are betting elsewhere just make sure to shop around and find the best odds.

We have been really increasing our sports betting content at RotoBaller, and this year will be no different. Tommy Bell (@BellRoto) will be handling things over in our premium offering. Steve Janik (@stevejanik6) will be carrying the free picks on during the week throughout the season with some help from yours truly. And Kipp Heisterman (@kipppsta) brings you the Monkey Knife Fight picks. Let's make some money and have fun. but remember, please gamble responsibly! The RotoBaller team has had a great month of June on the books so far, so let's finish it out strong and make some money!

Colorado Rockies @ Arizona Diamondbacks

O/U: 9.5 | Moneyline: ARI -130

COL: Chi Chi Gonzalez | ARI: Jacob Faria

The Rockies and Diamondbacks square off again in an NL West matinee showdown. Chi Chi Gonzalez (2-5, 5.52) will match up against Jacob Faria (0-0, 5.25). This year, oddly enough, Colorado's pitching staff is actually better at Coors and struggle more often on the road. This is a good indicator for the over here as the Diamondbacks have been more of an "over team" this season, with the total going over in 25 of their 42 games at home, including 5 of their last six at home against Colorado.

Jacob Faria will take the mound for Arizona. Faria hasn't been awful this season, but hasn't been good either. He does carry an xFIP over 5 into this one, and we can also expect him to be limited to four to five innings. This is another solid over indicator as if we've been paying any attention this season, we know that Arizona's bullpen is among the worst if not the absolute worst in all of The Show. I feel like 9.5 is too low of a number, I'll be hitting the over.

Pick: Over 9.5 (-115) FanDuel Sportsbook

Washington Nationals @ San Diego Padres

O/U: 7.5 | Moneyline: SD -146

WSH: Max Scherzer | SD: Yu Darvish

The Nationals absolutely took it to Chris Paddack last night from the first pitch and never looked back. It's hard to predict they'll have the same success tonight against Yu Darvish (7-3, 2.65). Luckily for Washington, though, they'll be running Max Scherzer (7-4, 2.10) to the mound themselves. I'm not a huge fan of how either team's bullpen has pitched in this series, so I'll be staying away from picking a nine-inning winner or total in this one.

I will, however, jump all over solid odds in the first inning and first half lines here. I absolutely love the value we can get in the first-inning draw (-135), as both pitchers have dominated opening frames this season, giving up just 8 runs in over 30 innings combined between the two of them. I also think these two "would-be" Cy Young candidates -- if Jacob deGrom wasn't putting together one of the greatest pitching seasons of all time -- are going to duel it out for six-plus innings and keep the game tight and low scoring. I love the first-inning draw and the first 5 under.

Picks: First-Inning Draw (-135), F5 under 4.5 runs (-188), FanDuel Sportsbook

We could really use a bounceback day today. Let's get after it and boost our bankrolls heading into what should be an exciting weekend of sports!
