3 years agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (toe) missed his second straight practice of the week on Thursday. Rodgers suffered a setback with his fractured pinkie toe in the Week 14 win over the Chicago Bears, but surgery is not in the cards and he plans to continue playing through it. Despite playing through the fractured toe, most observers wouldn't be able to tell any difference in Rodgers' play of late. The 38-year-old future Hall of Famer has been lighting it up and has gone over 300 yards passing in each of the last three games while tossing 10 touchdowns and no interceptions. Against a Baltimore Ravens defense this Sunday that is surrendering the second-most passing yards per game (266.1), Rodgers will be a strong midrange QB1 option for his fantasy managers.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

2 years agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will face the Chicago Bears on Sunday night. After an abysmal fantasy performance in Week 1 against Minnesota, last season's MVP will look to bounce back in a favorable matchup. While Chicago held Trey Lance and the 49ers to 164 passing yards last week, the game was played in, essentially, a swamp due to weather conditions. Rodgers struggled with his new receiving corps but was missing top wideout Allen Lazard (ankle). Lazard has put in limited work at practice this week and could be back for the Packers' home opener Sunday. If Lazard is active, Rodgers should bounce back and finish as a back-end QB1 for fantasy managers. However, if Lazard is missing again, Rodgers would be a risky option with a low ceiling in Week 2.--Ryan Larrison - RotoBaller

3 years agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers went 23-for-34 for 195 yards and threw an interception Sunday, adding one rush for a one-yard loss in a losing effort against the Minnesota Vikings. The reigning MVP struggled to drive the offense downfield without his new top target Allen Lazard (ankle). Many expected the passing attack to take a step back without star wideout Davante Adams, but the offense underperformed in what was considered a plus matchup. It will take time for Rodgers to gain chemistry with all the new wideouts in Green Bay, and until Lazard is back, the veteran's ceiling for fantasy seems to be capped. He will look to bounce back next week against Chicago.--Ryan Larrison - RotoBaller

3 years agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers opens the regular season on the road against the Minnesota Vikings. The reigning MVP no longer has star wide receiver Davante Adams and will likely be without Allen Lazard (ankle) as he is officially doubtful for Sunday's matchup. It leaves Rodgers with Sammy Watkins, Randall Cobb, and Romeo Doubs at the top of the depth chart. Already losing some fantasy value with Adams no longer a part of the offense, Rodgers could struggle to open the season. He has a favorable matchup against the Vikings, who allowed the sixth-most points per game to the quarterback position. However, he may need to rely more on his run game with no alpha receiver to target. Rodgers is a back-end QB1 for fantasy managers in Week 1.--Ryan Larrison - RotoBaller

3 years agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and running back Aaron Jones will be held out of Thursday's preseason finale against the Chiefs as the team looks to keep them healthy ahead of the regular season. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur revealed Tuesday that all starters who had not previously played in preseason contests would be sticking to that plan. Jordan Love will likely continue to get an extended look as the Packers' signal caller, having delivered some up-and-down performances across the first two weeks. With AJ Dillon also not having suited up, the rushing game has been led by Tyler Goodson and Patrick Taylor. The next time that Rodgers, Jones and Co. are slated to see game action is Week 1 of the regular season vs. Minnesota on Sept. 11.--Jesse Borek
