4 years agoKansas City Royals shortstop Adalberto Mondesi (quad) was pulled from Sunday's game early with a bruised quad. Mondesi fouled a pitch off his leg in the second inning and was hobbling a bit. The Royals don't expect it to be serious, so it's just a precautionary move for now. Nicky Lopez took over at short for the 25-year-old. Mondesi has nine nits compared to 14 strikeouts in 38 plate appearances so far.--Tim Capurso
