5 years agoChicago Cubs rookie pitcher Adbert Alzolay hit his first bump in the road on Monday versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. The rookie only lasted 2 2/3 innings and allowed 10 hits, seven runs, one walk and struck out three. Alzolay had fared much better in his previous appearances as both a starter and reliever, but didn’t have it going on Monday. Starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks (shoulder) is expected to return on Tuesday, but with fellow starting pitcher Cole Hamels (oblique) sidelined with a left oblique strain, Alzolay still has a chance to remain in the rotation.
